GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Tremco is seeking an applicant with a demonstrated knowledge of coating formulating across multiple chemistries, with a focus on reactive, one component systems and butyl technologies, and would be responsible for all efforts regarding new developmental projects and operational and supply chain support regarding them. The incumbent in the role will advance projects effectively once given guidance from senior leadership and communicate project updates to assist in tactical decision making regarding the area of their expertise. They will demonstrate competency regarding adaptability, resourcefulness, collaboration, and accountability to drive projects to completion when working individually or within a group dynamic.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead and supervise research projects that deliver business results
Lead multiple project activities through a defined product development process
Oversee the design of experiments to evaluate and optimize the performance attributes of these technologies
Understand process capability, design selection criteria, and/or structure-property relationships for developed products
Assure and validate proper documentation of responsible technical and experimental activities
Present work and subject matter cross-functionally to facilitate discussion of project management
Explores conceptual ideas to prove or disprove concepts
Ability to travel up to 25%
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Bachelor's degree in chemistry or chemical engineering or higher.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
4+ Years' experience reactive chemistry with deep knowledge in polymer synthesis.
Polymer knowledge in polyurethane, acrylics, STPU and STPE, and other hybrid systems
Knowledge of solvent-based coatings and sealants (commercial deck coatings and roof systems)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Incumbent must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, balance, kneel, talk, hear, taste, smell, and lift up to 50 lbs.
BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION:
The salary range for applicants in this position generally ranges between $90K and $100K and is negotiable depending on experience plus incentive compensation. This range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications, operations, needs, and other considerations permitted by law.

In this role you will:
Develop robust processes for Uncrustables R&D, innovation, renovation, and technology initiatives.
Design, plan, coordinate and execute experiments from bench-top through manufacturing scale. Document technical findings and clearly articulate findings and recommendations through written and verbal summaries to the leadership team and cross-functionally.
Apply fundamental engineering principles in combination with a creative mindset & critical thinking to develop solutions.
Be a subject matter expert on R&D equipment design, operation, and troubleshooting.
Lead and support testing in PRL.
Identify and investigate new process technologies.
Identify and communicate process scale-up risks and mitigations.
Lead patent opportunities for technologies and processes.
Interface with equipment suppliers, service providers, manufacturing facilities and relevant business functions to achieve goals.
Drive decisions and recommendations based on data.
Provide coaching and function as a resource for junior engineers.
Become fluent and participate in JMS Key Element and Quality programs to support R&D.

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Chemical/Mechanical/Food Engineering)
5 + years experience in process development or operations technical support within CPG industry.
Able to function as a technical leader in process engineering in multifunctional teams.

Strong experience with process engineering and record of leveraging this experience to develop, qualify, and launch new process innovation and technologies.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Ability to work a hybrid working schedule based on Company Core Weeks and business needs - with in office presence at or above 50% regularly; start times based on work needs may be before 8 AM (~25% of work days).

RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the development and implementation of programs which ensure that the environmental regulatory obligations associated with construction of electrical transmission lines and substations are achieved in a cost-effective manner and that environmental risks are effectively managed
Support the preparation of permit packages, regulatory reports and submittals
Assess project needs and procure services from outside consultants, as needed, to ensure project delivery
Review and provide comments on reports, studies, and recommendations prepared by outside consultants
Assist with the preparation of technical documents such as environmental impact reports, and communicate the results to individuals in industry, government, or the general public

QUALIFICATIONS
