Responsibilities
A research fellow position is available in the Department of Radiation Oncology. The Mutter lab is seeking a highly motivated, creative, and collaborative post-doctoral fellow. The individual will be interested in basic and translational research training aimed at improving the lives of patients with cancer at Mayo Clinic. Mayo Clinic is one of the premier health care institutes in the world. Robert W. Mutter, M.D., is a radiation oncologist and physician scientist in the Department of Radiation Oncology and the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He co-leads the Novel Therapeutics and Therapeutic Modalities Research Program of the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Mutter lab discovers new tumor-specific therapeutic targets and develops novel combinatorial approaches to overcome treatment resistance, such as through manipulation of the DNA damage response and host immunity. The team also investigates new biomarkers of response and resistance to radiation and other cancer treatments.
Qualifications
Must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a field deemed relevant by the program. Research Fellow is appropriate for individuals who have completed no more than one prior postdoctoral fellowship, at Mayo Clinic or elsewhere. A Ph.D. is preferred.

THE FINE PRINT:

The ideal Applicants will have a strong background in neurology, epidemiology, or related fields, experience with large data sets and clinical research, familiarity with genetic risk scores and statistical modeling, and excellent analytical and communication skills.
Applicants must demonstrate a strong publication record and present a clear career development plan in multiple sclerosis (MS) research.
Applicants are required to submit a research proposal (1-2 pages) that clearly articulates the project's hypothesis, specific aims, innovation, significance, and any collaborative components. The Department of Radiology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota is seeking a highly qualified postdoctoral Research Fellow for the CT Clinical Innovation Center, a worldwide leader in the field of CT imaging. Using state-of-the-art clinical and pre-clinical CT systems, our highly productive team investigates a wide range of CT-related topics, with a focus on developing novel, high-impact CT technologies and translating them into clinical practice, such as photon counting detector (PCD) CT and artificial intelligence (AI). The Research Fellow would conduct research on one or more of the following areas: (1) photon counting detector CT: technical development and clinical applications; (2) AI in image quality enhancement, multi-energy analysis, and multi-modal deep learning; (3) image guided radiation therapy with a focus on novel imaging techniques; (4) 6DCT in dynamic imaging; (5) cardiovascular CT imaging for diagnosis and risk prediction. The Biomedical Ethics Research Program at Mayo Clinic consists of a dedicated group of bioethics researchers including pre- and post-doctoral trainees, master's trained research staff, and PhD and MD faculty, exploring ethical issues in new and innovative areas of translational research.
A Research Fellow in Biomedical Ethics will have a primary focus in empirical bioethics studies focused on new technologies such as artificial intelligence, neuroethics, and/or genomic ethics. Experience with normative bioethical analysis, survey methods, qualitative research, and/or policy research is highly desirable.
