Function/Duties of Position Data acquisition on MEA and single cell electrophysiology rig. Perform experiments using the MEA and single cell system. Operate and maintain the MEA equipment. Work for extended periods in a dark room as required for retinal recordings (individual experiments typically last 2-8 hours; total time in the dark room may reach 12 hours per day). Electrophysiology data analysis. Responsible for developing, testing, and applying data analysis tools to process large-scale electrophysiological datasets from MEA and single cell recordings. Work closely with the PI to identify functional patterns in retinal ganglion cell activity. Support publication-quality analyses and visualizations Publication. In partnership with PI and collaborators, interpret results, draft, and revise manuscripts for publication. Tissue dissection and tissue distribution. Collect enucleated eyes from the Oregon National Primate Research Center (ONPRC) or Devers Eye Institute approximately once per week. Dissect eyes in a dark room and distribute tissue to other researchers as needed. Prepare retinal tissue for MEA recordings, single cell recordings, or explant studies. Work for extended periods in a dark room; dissection is performed immediately prior to MEA data acquisition sessions. Training.
