Shields private investigator job description

*Private Investigator (Levels 1,2 & 3)*

We are hiring throughout the State of California. We are seeking people in the following Counties: San Francisco, Santa Clara, Alameda, Contra Costa, Yolo, Sutter, Solano, San Joaquin, Orange, Los Angeles and San Diego.

Training is provided remotely and in-person. The company will provide transportation or reimbursement at its discretion.

This is an entry-level role, but experience in security, policing or loss prevention is a plus. Once you achieve 2,000 hours of paid investigative work, you can apply for your own Private Investigator License.

1. Be available for assignments and adjust personal schedule accordingly to accommodate job need.

2. Excellent written and oral communication

3. Stay apprised of phone calls, emails and other company communications; respond timely.

4. Good report writing skills; and or ability to develop such skills

5. Able to recall faces, places and things; develop this skill over time

6. Proficient in all MS Office applications, particularly Word and Excel

7. Attention to detail; become a professional witness; ability to recall what you saw, heard or experienced.

8. Able to conduct effective interviews of witnesses, suspects and others as assigned

9. Ability to take recorded statements, transcribe and upload within 24 hours of interview.

10. Able to perform research using online tools

11. Ability to identify, collect and secure evidence from a scene; while maintaining "chain of custody" until transfer of custody occurs.

12. Ability to maintain focus and attention over a prolonged period of time.

13. Ability to initiate and maintain surveillance; both mobile and stationary throughout the duration of assignment

14. Keep supervisor informed of all case activities and status

15. Use case management system to enter case notes, upload photo and video evidence, submit receipts and invoices, etc.

16. Purchase tools of the trade. The company furnishes some equipment, the employee is required to possess a laptop with Windows 10 or greater; maintain software and anti-virus software up-to-date. It cannot be shared with others as access to sensitive systems is required. Purchase of camera and digital recorder is also required.

17. Possess all tools and equipment prior to start Shield training program.

27. Able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; particularly in cars during travel or by assignment.

28. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds based on equipment need for case assignment.

30. If personal vehicle is used for work, maintain in good working order, must be insured. Shield must be added to policy as additionally insured. Failure to keep your persona vehicle insured, requires you to use company vehicle only.

31. Highly recommended that each member join CALI-PI.org, for training, networking, webinars, conferences and industry knowledge. Optional, there is a cost to join.

32. Willingness to train and mentor new hires.
