UVA Athletics Academic Affairs seeks a diverse candidate pool of Content Tutors to assist student-athletes with course specific knowledge and skill acquisition including, but not limited to, test/quiz preparation, decoding of lecture content, and managing reading loads. We will hire across all discipline areas and qualified applicants will become a member of the Cavalier Academic Support Team (CAST).
Content Tutors meet with their assigned student(s) on a regular schedule (typically twice weekly) and will work in small groups or one-on-one with student-athletes. Content Tutors are expected to have a strong understanding of the course content and demonstrate this through the incorporation of relevant study strategies in proper planning of the sessions. The Academic Affairs Staff will train all tutors on the CAST framework and expectations for tutor sessions.
Content Tutor Responsibilities :
* Create, plan, and instruct sessions specific to course content.
* Conduct sessions using the CAST tutoring framework.
* Comply with all NCAA and ACC rules and regulations as well as the UVA Honor Code guidelines through continuous training.
* Complete detailed session reports at the end of each session via the Athletics Academic Affairs reporting system.
* Communicate with Academic Affairs staff regarding any issues or concerns with student-performance.
* Establish professional working relationship with students and the Athletics Academic Affairs Staff.
* Attend tutor orientation at the beginning of each semester and required trainings throughout.
* Monitor student progress and report to the appropriate constituents.
* Additional duties as assigned.
Position Compensation Range: $20-$22/hour based on education and experience
Content Tutor program hours: Tutor hours vary based on course need and student availability. Evening tutor availability strongly preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Key Responsibilities
Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children.
Actively engage in indoor and outdoor activities with the children.
Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
Maintain feeding schedules for each child.
Provide comfort and loving care.
Assist in the implementation of individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive and emotional growth.
Manage cleanliness, order and availability of classroom materials.
Conduct light cleaning duties such as gathering trash, sanitizing toys and table tops, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming floors, and other general duties similar in nature.
Establish positive relationships and communicate effectively with children, staff, administration, parents and members of the community.
Provide appropriate safety, supervision, and support as applicable to program guidelines.
Ensure all center policies and state licensing and health regulations are met.
Ensure a healthy classroom environment including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to child care center.
Actively engage with children.
Effectively conduct hand washing, diapering and toileting procedures as it relates to job responsibility.
Adhere to all staff and program guidelines.
