One (1) year of full-time wage-earning experience in child care work or training in a child-related field.

Teacher Aide Certification Substitute: A TEA teacher or principal certification will be accepted in lieu of the Educational Aide I/II/III certification.
However, the salary for an employee who holds a TEA teacher or principal certification will be based on the appropriate salary for a Teacher Aide because a higher certification is not required.
Note: Any degree, diploma, high school equivalent, or course hours required to meet minimum qualifications must be obtained from an accredited educational institution.

Major Responsibilities and Duties
Instructional Strategies
* Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences.
* Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect an understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned and present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
* Conduct an assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
* Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
* Work with other staff members to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
* Plan and assign work to instructional aide(s) and volunteer(s) and oversee completion.

Position Overview
We're looking for a dedicated and mission-driven team member to join our school community. support students throughout the day. PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Help meet physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom. Assist in implementation of classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instruction programs. Work under general supervisor of principal and immediate direction of certified teacher.

* Works with individual or small groups of handicapped students to reinforce lessons/activities initially introduced by the teacher and to assist with classroom experiments, demonstrations, etc.
* Assists with any remedial drills, reading or storytelling keeping accurate records of student progress and performance.
* Helps students take care of physical needs and personal care including feeding, bathroom needs and personal hygiene.
* Helps manage behavior of students. This includes intervening in crisis situations and restraining a student who becomes a danger to himself/herself and others.
* Assist and intervene in situations such as prevention of self-abusive and aggressive behaviors through use of District Crisis Management training.
* Helps students follow teachers' instructions through physical management such as prevention of self abusive and/or aggressive behaviors in which students may engage.
* Assumes responsibility for learning and adapting to each student's special medical, physical, communicative and emotional needs.
* Works with assigned student or small group of students to develop Fine/Gross and social motor skills, and conduct exercise activities assigned by the teacher.
* Assists assigned students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
