General Duties: A tutor's duties are to provide students with instruction and curriculum support outside of the classroom supporting them to be productive and successful. A tutor will assess and evaluate the status of student's work and make recommendations to the teacher of record when necessary. The tutor will be committed to continuous improvement concepts.
Essential Functions:
Student contact by means of voice mail, e-mail, or face-to-face, or electronically.
Evaluate student's work and provide feedback to teacher of record and school administrators.
Provide guidance to student for reporting student concerns about technical or curriculum problems.
Keep orderly and accurate records.
Report to program any discrepancies, errors, or problems inherent to the computer programs.
Participate in staff development.
Maintain required certificate(s) and/or licenses(s).
Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance at scheduled sessions.
Perform all duties in conformity to the adopted Board Policy.
Display professional appearance
Perform in a professional manner.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as a role model for educators and students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible adult.
Help to instill in students and staff the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.

The purpose of a Professional Tutor for the Tutoring and Learning Center is to provide tutoring and skill-building services for students individually, in small-group sessions, and/or in the academic labs in different subject areas. Professional Tutors are also required to participate in department training and other professional development opportunities to maintain a knowledge of their subject area(s) and current teaching methods.
While the Tutoring and Learning Center supports a variety of subjects, this search is specifically for any of the following content areas: Writing/Composition, History, Political Science, ESL, Introduction to Statistics, Business Statistics I & II, and Nursing; however, it is not limited to these areas.
This position pays $17.45 per hour and has a maximum of 28 hours of work per week. We are seeking to fill multiple vacancies for this position.

By working up to 2-3 days per week, these tutors will play a crucial role in supporting the district's mission to provide equitable and effective instructional support, fostering student growth and achievement.

Required qualifications: Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution in Math or related discipline, or at least two semesters of coursework in Math with at least a grade of B; demonstrated subject matter expertise in Math; ability to clearly and effectively explain subject matter to students; and, experience working with individuals with diverse backgrounds.
Preferred qualifications: Experience tutoring or teaching in higher education; experience leading online meetings with technology (i.e. WebEx, Zoom, GoToMeeting); and, familiarity with the community college environment.
