Boys' Latin of Philadelphia seeks a High School History Teacher charged with developing informed thinkers, connectors, consumers, and historians. The teacher will deliver curricula that promotes the idea that history continues to shape and influence our lives, connecting historical and current events so that students understand the present, consider their own beliefs, and develop empathy for different cultures. The teacher will challenge students to think critically, ask questions, and articulate ideas with supported arguments. In class, students will engage in Socratic seminars, role playing, debates, research, and writing assignments. The teacher will promote and nurture the education of students by planning and tailoring courses of study; monitoring, assisting with, and correcting academic efforts; and providing a safe environment conducive to learning and character development. All students take Civics, World History, and U.S. History, and have access to a wide-variety of elective courses including African American History, Philosophy, Social Justice, and World Religions.
The teacher will perform the following duties:
Plan, develop, and deliver a college preparatory curriculum that is aligned with PA Common Core standards and best practices.
