JOB DESCRIPTION:
Our Agency is dedicated to hiring people we can trust with our own families. Our PCAs deliver various personal care and services in accordance with an established plan of care and provides for the personal needs and comfort of patients in their homes.
Qualifications & Education:
o High School Diploma or GED required
o Personal Care Assistant/Certified Nurse Aide Certification required through successful completion of an approved program.
o One year-full time experience in personal care or an institutional setting, such as a hospital or nursing home, or one-year full-time experience within the last five years in direct client care in a home care agency setting; or
o Evidence of sympathetic attitude toward elderly care
o Demonstrated ability to read, write and carry out directions.
o Evidence of maturity and ability to deal effectively with job demands.
o Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
o Participate in professional meetings when directed.
o Ability to work closely supervised to ensure competence in providing client care.
o Must have a criminal history check conducted prior to being offered a position with the agency
Responsibilities:
o Provide personal hygiene assistance
o Help clients take prescribed medication
o Assist clients with ambulation
o Assist with personal care and hygiene, plan and prepare meals
o Complete clients shopping or accompany them to successfully do so
o Perform housekeeping duties and report any unusual incidents
o Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency
o Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands:
o Sufficient visual and hearing ability to comprehend written and verbal communication.
Ability to:
o Perform tasks involving activity which may include heavy lifting and extensive bending and standing.
o Deal effectively with stress.
o Work assigned hours per week.
o Bend and stand an average of six (6) hours per day.
o Lift up to 50+ pounds.
o Write up to 3 hours per day.
o Work in a stressful environment.
o Drive up to 50+ miles per day.
Additional Requirements:
o Assess and communicate with ill clients, co-workers and general public.
o Must have a passion for caregiving and a desire to help others
o Must be neat in appearance and practice good personal hygiene.
o Must have a reliable means of transport.
o Must have a valid proof a negative TB test, or be willing to get tested.
o Must have CPR and First Aid certifications from a recognized provider.
