Job DescriptionJob Description: Provo area surgery center is seeking a PACU/Pre-Op Nurse (RN) to ensure the delivery of safe, efficient, caring service pertinent to individual needs of surgery patients. This individual acts as a patient advocate, providing continuity of care designed to meet individual patient needs through collaboration with other members of the health care team at the facility. Responsibilities include:
• Provide prescription pads for surgeons scheduled for the day.
• Check crash cart and oxygen tank, perform daily AED check.
• Count PACU narcotics with another nurse and replenish supply of narcotics. Restock Phase II refrigerator with fluid supply.
• Provide post operative care of the surgical patient, including: airway maintenance, stabilization of vital signs, safe emergence from anesthesia, control of pain and nausea by administration of drugs and other modalities, orientation to surroundings, administration of special equipment (i.e., ice bags, post-¬op shoes, slings), offer nourishment, and assist the patient with dressing.
• Follow proper procedures regarding exposure to Category I tasks and for handling hazardous waste materials.
• Document vital signs, nurse's notes and drugs administered on the PACU record.
• Review discharge instructions and educate patient and/or responsible adult with appropriate information to alleviate fears and maintain optimal post op care in the home environment.
• Obtain discharge order from anesthesiologist or surgeon (if local anesthesia) prior to discharge.
• In the event of a transfer to another facility, complete a Variance Report, Transfer Log, and note appropriate information on Patient Clinical Record.
• Make post-op calls to check on patient's condition and document call in patient record.
• Clean gurneys after each patient and restock supplies.
• At end of shift, re verify narcotic count, lock drug cupboards, deposit keys in locked box, turn off all equipment, lock back door, secure medical charts and prescription pads, and close anesthesia supply closet door.
• Notify PACU Team Leader / Director of Nursing of equipment and instruments needing repair and or service.
Candidate must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah and have current CPR, ACLS and PALS certification. This individual must be able to stand and/or walk at least five hours per day, able to lift and/or carry over 25 pounds on a regular basis, and able to push/pull over 50 pounds on a regular basis. Patient care activities may also require the ability to exert force over 50 pounds.

The primary function of the Occupational Therapist is to perform evaluations, to plan, implement and modify treatment programs; to direct and supervise physical therapy services; to participate in discharge planning; to pursue professional growth; assist with educational duties and perform administrative and other duties as required. Must comply with all aspects of the Colorado Occupational Therapy Act in providing occupational therapy services.
Essential Functions :


Organizes and conducts occupational therapy programs for hospital inpatients and/or outpatients.


Follows practice act, state and federal laws and provides current licensure and certifications to hospital. Responsible for professional conduct, ethical practice, and professional growth and development. Demonstrates clinical expertise in the principles and practice of occupational therapy.


Maintains current order and/or certified plan of care for treatment and completes appropriate and compliant documentation in a timely manner per departmental policies and procedures.


Follow CMS and other insurance rules and regulations. Requests for insurance authorization in a timely manner.


Completes annual competencies. Demonstrates knowledge in current treatment modalities and procedures and their safe usage and reports any unsafe condition.


Diagnose and charge patient appropriately per CPT and ICD-10 definitions expectations.


Assists with training and orientation of new staff, students and volunteers. Provides In-services and assisting in the education and training for students, self, peers. Promotes, participates and educates community (Health Fair etc.).


Appropriately delegates, directs and supervises COTA's per professional license standards.


Meets departmental attendance and scheduling standards. Request permission for overtime, change in schedule and time off. Demonstrates willingness to flex schedule in response to patient census. Reports to and leaves work at scheduled time, reporting these times via KRONOS with minimal errors. Attends meetings as required.


Responsible for meeting department goals, individual productivity and time management.


Participates and shares ideas on opportunities for process improvements, operations, problem solving, expansion of services, and reduction of expenses or improvement in the quality of services. Assists with marketing in accordance with MMH Mission, Vision, Values and strategic plan.


Follows policies and procedures, HIPAA and Code of Conduct.
Responsible for other duties as needed.


Promotes the philosophy and mission of Montrose Regional Health.


Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.



Education and Work Experience:


Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy. Must be graduate of Occupational Therapy program accredited by the A.O.T.A. and prove successful completion of Occupational Therapy Registration Exam. Must hold current licensure by State of Colorado as an O.T.R. BLS Certification required. Job knowledge requires excellent interpersonal communication skills and understanding of management practices. Ability to effectively communicate, verbally, and non-verbally, in a clear, concise manner. Administrative and philosophical compatibility with Montrose Regional Health. Interpersonal skills and sound judgment necessary to communicate with a wide variety of persons including patients.


The ability to make appropriate decisions based on fact and knowledge is required. The ability to perform detailed work required. The ability to work harmoniously with employees required. Must demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality and show good judgment. The ability to make decisions under pressure and deadlines required.



Physical Demands and Working Conditions:


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands along with fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. This position requires a flexible work schedule with the need to travel to offsite clinics and regional partners.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is responsible for routine and high-risk respiratory procedures across the facility. The RRT will provide clinical expertise to ensure all patients receive high-quality, efficient care. The RRT will assess patients by performing diagnostic tests and evaluations, treating patients and tracking progress. What you will do in this role:

· You will perform routine and high-risk procedures as prescribed by the Physician and follow appropriate policy in the application of respiratory procedures.

· You will communicate with physicians on the effectiveness of respiratory care procedures.

· You will thoroughly explain and answer patient and family questions regarding respiratory care.

· You will review patients' charts to verify order and check for contradictions of therapy.

· You will assess patient and provide proper documentation in patient's chart as related to therapy.

· You will assemble, install, disassemble, assess and maintain equipment according to manufacturer and department policy.

What qualifications you will need:

· Acceptable degree from an accredited school - Associate in Respiratory Therapy or Bachelor Degree in Respiratory Therapy is required

· A Registered Respiratory Therapist license in the state which you practice, in accordance with law and regulation, is required

· Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider is required

· Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) Provider is required

· 1-3 years of experience is preferred
