Responsibilities


Wellstar North Fulton has an immediate opportunity for a MRI Tech. The position is a PRN opportunity, various shifts available!
The Registered MRI Technologist must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs. Must be dependable, accountable and cooperative. Assists with providing safe, age appropriate care to the patient by performing all exams provided by the department according to department procedures.
The MRI Tech has the knowledge and ability to properly and safely obtain a quality diagnostic study. Responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in the utilization of equipment for the diagnosis and/or treatment of diseases. Able to independently perform job functions. Sets up the equipment to provide imaging service and positions patient for the procedure.


Qualifications


Required Minimum Education : Successful completion of an accredited MRI program or ARRT-R.

Required Minimum Certification : ARRT-MR or ARMRIT; BLS certification.

Required Minimum Experience: One (1) year experience in a clinical setting caring for patients; prefer MRI clinical
setting.

Required Minimum Skills:
Must exhibit excellent communication skills because this position requires frequent verbal and
written communications with: physicians, patients, visitors, departmental staff and nursing staff. The employee obtains, presents and discusses clinical information regarding job responsibilities on a routine basis. Candidate must be able to explain or give directions to maintain goodwill, and obtain cooperation with all contacts. Must possess the ability to
function independently and under pressure while still actively participating in a team environment. Position requires the
employee to exhibit excellent customer service skills at all times. Must be able to perform effectively in a stressful and fast paced work environment. Must have the ability to prioritize
appropriately. Must be detail oriented and have the capacity to effectively multitask throughout the work shift. Must
but not limited to patients, families, co-workers, volunteers, and physicians throughout the work shift. Must possess
the ability to function independently, yet productively as a cooperative team member with various work teams
associated with the position. Must be compliant, with a willingness to follow all Hospital policies as well as the
established practices, protocols and procedures of the position, department and applicable professional standards.
Competent in all aspects of MRI, patient positioning, pulse sequence parameters and magnet safety. Must have an
understanding of anatomy and pathology as to how they affect the quality of a procedure.

Performs quality Electroencephalograms (EEG) on newborns, infants, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients as ordered by physician with appropriate ordering privileges.

Performs quality Electromyograms (EMG) on adolescents, adults and geriatric patients as ordered by physician with appropriate ordering privileges.

Performs quality Auditory Evoked Response (AER) on adolescents, adults and geriatric patients as ordered by physician with appropriate ordering privileges.

Performs quality Visual Evoked Response (VER) on adolescents, adults and geriatric patients as ordered by physician with appropriate ordering privileges.

Performs quality Somatosensory Evoked Potential (AEP) on adolescents, adults and geriatric patients as ordered by physician with appropriate ordering privileges.

Prepares patients for Nerve Conduction studies and performs all followup calculations and documentation.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for patients requiring these modalities.

Performs initial and ongoing patient assessment to assure appropriate understanding and compliance with testing procedures, patient safety, and ability of patient to effectively participate in the testing.

Continuously monitors patient activity and maintains quality recordings through recognition and correction of artifactual data, while remaining vigilant of patient safety and comfort.
Maintains records to provide complete clinical information and to assure accurate patient charging. Assures that equipment and supplies are available to assure quality patient care. Maintains inventories, makes copies Properly cleans reusable equipment, and maintains liquid sterilant according to manufacturer instructions. Performs maintenance and calibration on all testing equipment as prescribed by manufacturer. Serves as a resource person for other departments. Acts as point of contact for issues pertaining to neurodiagnostic testing. Collects and analyzes Performance Improvement data, including appointment delay times. Shares "On Call" duties with other Neurodiagnostics staff.
Requirements:
The incumbent must have a thorough knowledge of the anatomy and technology associated with the various studies performed. A minimum of two years experience is preferred. CPR required. Voluntary credentials desirable. Computer skills adequate to interact with the various testing systems required. The individual must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills required to proficiently provide care to a patient population to include: neonates, infants, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
