    Under the supervision of a probation supervisor, performs a psycho-social history, risk assessment and substance abuse and mental health screening; develops case plans; makes dispositional recommendations; provides active community supervision; monitors adherence to court orders and contracts of court involved youth. Promotes victim restoration, youth development and community safety in accordance with the juvenile probation code of conduct. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Essential Duties: * Has face to face contact with all assigned youth in accordance with the established contact standards. * Ensures compliance with disposition of the case: makes active referrals to court ordered services. * Leads or instructs activities that promote youth development and skill building. * Attends hearings as required. Presents dispositional written and verbal recommendations and reports to the Bench. * Adhere to the juvenile probation code of conduct and professional specific codes of conduct. * Required to attend trainings in areas specific to youth development and juvenile justice - for example LGBTQ, ethics, human trafficking, cultural competence, physical management, de-escalation techniques and personal safety. * Conduct risk assessment using evidence-based tool. Connect case plan to identified needs and risks. * Complete Michigan State Police fingerprinting training and fingerprint youth. * Required to conduct home, school, and community-based visits. * Arrange services that are court ordered i.e. counseling, psych, etc. * Refer youth and families to appropriate community based services. * Recommend, monitor, and assess services provided to youth by public and private agencies. * Advocate for age, gender, developmentally and culturally appropriate services. * Maintain and protect the confidentiality of all court records. * Adhere to the Crime Victim's Rights Act. (MCL 780.751). * Work collaboratively with families and community partners to devise and implement a case plan for the purpose of reducing delinquency risk factors and promoting protective factors. * Maintain case files; documenting all contacts within one business day and complying with the current Child Care Fund Handbook. * Responsible for knowing, understanding and following all Trial Court Policies and Procedures. * Is responsible for knowing and following all Family Division Juvenile statutes. * Attend staff meetings. * Attend all required trainings. * Required to transport youth and their families. * May be required to work outside of normal court hours. * Required to consistently identify and implement graduated incentives and sanctions. * Required to drive your own personal vehicle. * Perform other duties as assigned. An employee in this classification also develops and utilizes treatment and rehabilitation programs in the supervision of probationers and performs related work activities as required.
