As a PSM Professional, you will play a critical role in a wide range of process safety activities, including program development, training, and the evaluation and enhancement of PSM management systems. This position reports directly to the refinery PSM Manager. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent analytical / critical thinking skills, and the ability to communicate complex safety information clearly and effectively. Experience in a refinery or similar industrial environment is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
Metrics Analysis: Track and analyze process safety metrics to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement. Develop comprehensive reports to effectively communicate findings and trends to relevant stakeholders.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Engage frequently with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering personnel, and other departments to address process safety issues and foster a robust process safety culture. Effectively communicate, escalate, and mitigate process safety risks as necessary.
Regulatory Compliance: Lead and manage process safety programs to ensure compliance with all elements of Process Safety Management (PSM)/Risk Management Plan (RMP) and adherence to both external and internal standards. Advises on interpretation and application of internal and external standards, including Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP). Maintains and continuously improves local organization's process safety standards/plans.
Training and Development: Develop, coordinate, and deliver various process safety training programs and communications to refinery personnel, ensuring a high level of awareness and competency in process safety practices.
Technical Support: Serve as a technical resource for the refinery on process safety matters, including interpreting standards and identifying opportunities to educate and promote improved PSM work processes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Petroleum or related) with at least 2 years of relevant years of experience; or Bachelor's degree in HES related field with at least 5 years of relevant experience in a process industry; or High School diploma or GED with 10 years of relevant experience in a process industry
• Working knowledge and experience implementing process safety elements
• General understanding and application of the process, process hazards, corrosion mechanisms and safeguards for the type of facility/unit(s) assigned
• Understands and applies qualitative and quantitative process safety risk evaluation methods on simple scenarios and processes (e.g. MOC, PHA, LOPA, risk calibration, facility siting)
• Understands PSM and RMP regulatory requirements as well as industry recommended practices related to process safety

The Manufacturing Engineer is essential in ensuring robust manufacturing processes and facilitating the scaling of manufacturing processes and equipment. This role is responsible for integrating new and advanced manufacturing equipment seamlessly into the shipyard's capabilities, supporting the transition from low-rate to high-volume production, and spearheading the adoption of new automated manufacturing assets and software enhancements.
Technical Knowledge
Ability to operate or learn how to operate manufacturing equipment.
Ability to train others on how to use manufacturing equipment.
Understands manufacturing equipment maintenance requirements and develops a maintenance plan in conjunction with production engineering team.
Can identify emerging needs on the manufacturing floor.
Can identify weak/strong spots in manufacturing equipment and personnel and work with production engineering team to increase efficiency.
Ensure strict adherence to paperwork and requirements for quality and compliance
Can work directly with software engineering team on buildout of shipyard/production management system
Read, interpret, and follow blueprints and sketches to understand the specifications of a project
Job Proficiency
Executes repair of manufacturing equipment.
Assist in work prioritization and triage during peak production periods to maintain workflow efficiency.
Support the shipyard's transition from low-rate to high-volume production, identifying and implementing necessary changes in processes and infrastructure.
Onboard new automated manufacturing assets, collaborating with software and production engineering to drive improvements in software products that support production processes.
Create manufacturing processes in unstructured areas of our operational system.
Assist in work prioritization and triage during peak production periods to maintain workflow efficiency
Culture and Collaboration
Follow all shipyard safety policies, including proper use of PPE, fire prevention, and confined space protocols
Assist in the training and development of other manufacturing engineers, as well as production engineers
Collaborate and communicate with welders, metal fitters, pipefitters, electricians, and other trades as required to complete vessel construction or repair and to maintain efficient work flows
Work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced ship production environment
Maintain a clean and safe work area
Maintain a positive attitude toward customers and represent Saronic professionally

Sigma Engineers and Constructors is seeking an (On-Site) Process Engineer for one of our client sites in Donaldsonville, LA who can provide process engineering expertise in a collaborative environment to enhance the safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally friendly operations of the nitrogen fertilizer plants. As the process technical expert, works with other engineering disciplines as well as operations, maintenance, and EHS to ensure solutions meet overall business objectives.
Responsibilities:
As holistic system thinkers, monitor and report on operational performance process units and key variables impacting plant efficiency, capacity, catalyst performance, emissions, and process safety.
Proactively evaluate process and equipment performance to reduce plant upsets and generate solutions to resolve problems with process chemistry and equipment including pumps, compressors, turbines, heat exchangers, absorbers, strippers, boilers, combustion equipment, reactors, and high-pressure steam systems.
Optimize process performance through troubleshooting, process modeling, data analysis, process tests, and technical support to the operations organization.
Complete process engineering studies and provide comprehensive process engineering support during collaborative design of new installations and processes.
Help prioritize the development of projects to increase production capacity, improve energy efficiency, and enhance EHS performance.
Prepare and review documents including PFDs, P&IDs, scopes of work, and equipment specifications to support the capital process.
Review and approve new operational procedures and equipment operating limits. Develop and conduct training for operations and other groups to address significant changes and for annual refresher training.
Participate in MOCs, PHAs, LOPA studies, and incident investigations to identify and implement process safety and other EHS solutions.
Assist Maintenance and Operations during turnarounds by providing pre-turnaround process engineering recommendations, assisting in planning specialty work, performing equipment inspections related to process issues, coordinating catalyst replacements, and participate in plant restarts.
Maintain excellent communication and a professional working relationship with all departments and plant personnel.
WHO WE NEED:
BS degree in Engineering (any discipline) from an ABET accredited university is required.
10+ years of process engineering experience is preferred. Experience required working for an operating company in the chemical manufacturing or oil and gas industry.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal) required. Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with personnel throughout the organization.
Ability and willingness to collect field data, enter process equipment for inspections, and otherwise perform routine field engineering work in an operating chemical facility environment.
Ability and willingness to work alternative schedules on a short-term basis to support 24 hour/7 day per week operations, particularly during process unit startups, shutdowns, upsets, and catalyst reductions.
