Shift: Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM Core Responsibilities: • Design, develop, and maintain control systems including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and DCS platforms.
• Program and configure automation equipment to support manufacturing processes.
• Analyze process data to identify opportunities for improvement and implement control strategies.
• Collaborate with process engineers, maintenance, and operations teams to troubleshoot and resolve control system issues.
• Maintain documentation for control systems including schematics, code, and change logs.

• Knowledge of PLC programming and interfacing control concepts into a manufacturing environment; preference for Allen Bradley experience or similar platform.
• Experience with SCADA systems and data historians (Ignition - preferred).
• Proven experience in practical application of engineering science and technology.
This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of goods.
• Knowledge of production processes and quality control techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing and distribution of goods.
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

Job Purpose

The Process Engineer Intern at Cornerstone Building Brands is responsible for learning and subsequently implementing the Cornerstone Production System methodology on multiple production lines and throughout different systems and processes. Responsibilities include:
Lead supplier improvement activity as part of Department Business plan, reporting performance measurables and targets, forecast impact, monitor results & develop gap elimination plans to achieve Department goals
Identifies problems on an operational and/or systemic level and conducts problem analysis / situation appraisal, which may include analysis on a specific part or assembly process (Tooling / Equipment Spec / Part Drawing Spec or Evaluation / OEE / Volume Assessment, etc.) to provide best practice processes and develop effective countermeasures to correct problems or potential problems to avoid impacting delivery performance
Perform in-depth analysis related to the supplier's production planning, results and/or current business practices and correlation to Honda systems/requirements (example CMS) and propose improvement options
Manage engagement strategies for suppliers that are causing impact/risk to Honda. Performing deep root cause analysis through supplier Situational Analysis, establish commitment from supplier top management, and work collaboratively to understand supplier SA and manage an overall activity SAP.
Lead activity with concerned suppliers to understand current progress to overall SAP. Monitor, report on, and escalate suppliers that are not capable of meeting project milestones within the timeframe established.
Perform analysis of NARS reports (A-Rank, mislabel, etc) and applicable parts and identify actual and potential problems, clarify and review with applicable departments, implement countermeasures to avoid problem occurrence from production planning through delivery
Serve as subject matter expert to support and/or train Delivery associates in performing deep root cause analysis through data analysis, and oversee supplier situation analysis
Collaborate in supplier selection activity with cross-functional areas to confirm and improve actual supplier capability
Lead characteristic/systemic assessment and improvement activity after initial supplier crisis activity, as needed, to ensure supplier operational stability, efficiency, and characteristic improvement
Lead reporting and Gemba activity for root cause analysis/countermeasure implementation to solve complex problems with/ attention to closure speed and effectiveness. Execute continuous improvement through cycling Plan Do Check Action (PDCA).

ABOUT THE ROLE
This internship is for Summer 2026.
The Process Engineer Intern at Cornerstone Building Brands is responsible for learning and subsequently implementing the Cornerstone Production System methodology on multiple production lines and throughout different systems and processes. Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, this role will be on-site in Marion, OH and will work closely with the operations team.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Designs the ability to produce a quality product into the process.
Identify and analyze manufacturing problems to control and improve manufacturing.
Develops all necessary process and audit documentation (i.e. Visual Work Instructions, Standard Work Combination Table, Process Control Adherence Audit, etc.)
Assesses existing processes for areas of improvement utilizing Lean Manufacturing concepts (Kaizen, TPM, Value Stream Mapping, etc.) Six Sigma, designed experiment techniques, capability studies, etc.
Designs and/or sources equipment for manufacturing processes; evaluates and recommends implementation of competitive technology.
Leads, where applicable, or works in conjunction with plant maintenance to ensure that the facility and equipment are maintained and updated consistent with short- and long-term goals and objectives.
Provides training, as required, to associates.
Leads, where applicable, or works in conjunction with Quality Assurance, to monitor and document quality standards.
Presents capstone project as directed at the conclusion of the internship program.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Purpose:
Serve as a Process Engineer responsible for assembly process development and determining the sequence of assembly for new spec parts based upon existing process/parts lay out/process standard time (ST) and/or the maintenance and optimization of established process.

Regularly lead meetings with other Honda functional groups to develop and launch improvement themes (quality, safety, delivery, production, purchasing, packaging, or logistics)
Collect feedback from the production floor and address their concerns.
