POSITION SUMMARY
Applying engineering and chemistry techniques in the improvement of quality and manufacturing processes and products and in the transition of new products and processes from R&D to production. Assist in equipment and processes design to ensure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and to promote safety, quality and reliability. Assess current equipment methods and processes and makes recommendations for changes. Troubleshoot and repair equipment and processes. Shows results in reports. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Process Lab and New Product Development Support (50%)
Assist NPD projects as assigned and in compliance with Procedures, Programs, and Policies.
Assist with developing and executing Design of Experiments for pilot plant scale-up and production scale-up.
Analyze Design of Experiment data identifying results compared to expectations and opportunities for improvement.
Data Analysis / Technical Management (20%)
Analyze product/process data identifying opportunities for improvement and cost reduction.
Analyze product/process/quality data identifying opportunities for improvement and cost reduction.
Analyze the production requirements of products and ensure JDE1 data are correct.
Ensure all operations and processes comply with ISO/QMS requirements.
Develop work instructions and provide training on new and improved equipment and processes.
Plant Support (20%):
Assist in identifying, developing and implementing process improvement initiatives which reduce waste and non-value-added activities.
Plan, develop and implement quality and manufacturing process changes that yield improved Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE); production efficiencies, yields and rates.
Provide support on any production/product/quality issues as required.
Evaluate equipment and process capabilities and make recommendations on equipment design and selection.
Lead/direct the installation and start-up of new processes and equipment.
Develop a rapport with multiple Plant Leadership Teams, QA Team, and R&D personnel. Coordinate QA efforts with R&D and vice versa.
Pilot Plant Support (10%)
Operates and ensures pilot plant machines/production equipment is prepared for operation and installed following protocols and procedures and performs regular technical testing to ensure their safety and efficiency and ensures are functioning to specifications.
Executes required lab testing for experiments completed in the pilot plant.

What You'll Need to Succeed
Undergraduate with sophomore or junior status based on Major in Chemical Engineering or other related major
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Proven willingness and ability to learn new technical skills
Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Ability to conduct an experimental program to generate relevant, high-quality data with subsequent data analysis and interpretation
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment in order to meet project deadlines
Ability to work with others, communicate effectively, and contribute to cross-functional teams
Willingness to relocate to the Trumbull, CT area for the duration of the internship.

Discovery Center - Once the interview is complete, we'll invite our top matches to our offices in the Greater New York City or Toronto areas (depending on which job you applied for) for a truly immersive experience. You'll get to experience a number of exciting activities and projects along with your peers, meet our leaders, and receive personalized coaching and feedback. The exercises are designed around a real business case study, enabling us to tap into your potential while giving you further insight into what it's really like to work at Unilever.
