Summary:
As the NPI SMT ProcessEngineer, you lead the development, optimization, and transition of new PCBAs into manufacturing within a high-mix, low-volume electronics environment at North Atlantic Industries. With a minimum of five years of experience, you serve as a technical liaison between Engineering and Production, ensuring scalable, high-reliability SMT processes that support advanced defense, aerospace, and industrial electronics.
Requirements
Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) activities for SMT-based electronic assemblies in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment, from prototype builds through full-rate production.
Serve as the primary technical liaison between Design Engineering and Production, ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout the NPI lifecycle.
Develop, validate, and document robust SMT manufacturing processes including solder paste printing, pick-and-place, reflow, and automated inspection (AOI/X-ray).
Work with Design Engineering to drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) reviews to ensure efficient and cost-effective manufacturing.
Define and recommend tooling, fixtures, and equipment requirements to support complex SMT and mixed-technology PCB assemblies.
Run NPI manufacturing line on pilot, and low-volume production builds, resolving issues and optimizing the process before handing off to Production.
Work with Quality and ProcessEngineering to drive improvements to improve yield and product reliability.
Make technical recommendations on the procurement of new SMT equipment and technologies to keep pace with new design requirements & industry advancements.
Ensure compliance with IPC standards, internal quality systems, and applicable customer and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience supporting SMT and PCBA manufacturing.
Demonstrated experience working in a high-mix, low-volume electronics manufacturing setting.
Proven experience supporting NPI SMT builds and transitioning high-reliability electronic products into production.
Solid understanding of PCB fabrication, component packaging, and electronic assembly processes.
Demonstrated ability to work as a collaborative team player across Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations.
Working knowledge of IPC standards such as IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, IPC-J-STD-001, and IPC-7351.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Experience operating and programming Mycronic pick-and-place equipment in a production or NPI environment.
Familiarity with solder paste jet printing technologies and process development.
Selective Solder programming experience
Experience with Allegro PCB Design software
Working Environment:
This role is based in a high-mix, low-to-medium volume electronics manufacturing environment and will require time on the production floor supporting SMT lines, prototype builds, and troubleshooting activities.

At Near Space Labs we design, build, and operate a fleet of stratospheric robots to image the earth. We launch our proprietary, balloon-based imaging robots to heights between 40,000 and 60,000 feet. From this vantage point, we capture petabytes of imagery for a variety of use cases.
We are looking for a self-motivated Senior Photogrammetrist / Image ProcessingEngineer with experience in the Earth Observation or Geospatial industry to develop, refine, and implement advanced photogrammetric and image processing techniques in our data pipeline. You will collaborate with our cross-functional software and data teams to enhance existing products and contribute to the development of innovative geospatial solutions.
Your responsibilities will include
Develop, enhance, and implement bundle adjustment algorithms to improve geospatial data accuracy.
Build orthorectification and mosaicking processes and pipelines.
Collaborate with software engineers to integrate algorithms into production systems.
Contribute to new sensor design and support camera calibration tests, working closely with our Flight Vehicle Engineering unit and payload engineers.
Implement algorithms for Image Correction with RGB and multispectral sensors, including color correction, geometric correction, and radiometry when needed.
Improve georeferencing processes and experiment with different approaches.
Provide technical expertise and guidance to internal teams on geospatial data processing.

Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Manufacturing Engineer to build our production team in Hoboken, NJ. In this vital role, you will define process methodology from engineering to pilot manufacturing, create assembly drawings, and test protocols for manufacturing and assembling cutting-edge products. You will conduct thorough testing to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications, playing a key role in our quality control processes. Collaborating with cross-functional teams of electrical, FPGA, optical, mechanical, embedded, and software engineers, you will enhance product performance, troubleshoot challenges, and drive continuous improvement initiatives in our products. Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and execute innovative test plans and procedures to validate product performance and reliability.
Supervising the assembly of electronic, optical, and mechanical components with precision and care, adhering to specifications and engineering drawings.
Conduct insightful root cause analyses on test failures, document them properly, and implement corrective actions.
Collaborate with design teams to refine assembly processes and test methodologies.
Develop, document and maintain detailed test results, assembly processes, and technical documentation.
Provide valuable feedback to design teams regarding product design and quality improvements.
Develop relationships and maintain vendor ecosystem in support of low volume production.
Uphold manufacturing, safety standards, and regulations throughout all assembly and testing processes.
Implement quality control measures to assess and guarantee product quality throughout the assembly and testing phases.
Maintain and organize tools and equipment to ensure a safe and clean work environment.
Guide and direct efforts of Manufacturing Technicians.
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
4 or more years of experience in product assembly and testing, preferably in a dynamic manufacturing environment (Engineering to Pilot Manufacturing).
Experience in process definition, creation of supporting documentation such as Test, Assembly, Quality Etc..
Familiarity with quality assurance standards and manufacturing methodologies, such as ISO, Six Sigma, Lean, etc..
Strong understanding of electronic components, assembly techniques, and testing procedures.
Proficiency in using test equipment and tools, including experience with lab instruments such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.
Familiarity with PLM and ERP systems.
Dexterity in the use of hand tools, electronics soldering, and board reworking.
Basic programming skills. Able to code in C, C++, MATLAB/Octave, or Python.
Able to lift weights to OSHA limit (50 lbs.) when required (occasionally).
Excellent problem-solving skills, open-minded, and a keen attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively in a supportive, team-oriented environment.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Additional Preferred Skills:
Experience with automated testing equipment and techniques.

Job Description
This Manufacturing Engineer will oversee all technical and operational aspects of the existing company production line equipment, will be responsible for increasing operating efficiency and holds the overall responsibility for the design, specification, sourcing and procurement, installation and process procedures for all new production equipment for the company.
He or She will:
1. Evaluate existing company's manufacturing processes and equipment by reviewing all equipment supplier manuals and manufacturing operating instructions, processes and procedures. Develop and design process and procedures or change existing practices as necessary to improve operating efficiencies.
2. Establish quality control procedures to ensure that all production output meets defined quality standards. Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished-product and in-process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
3. Develop and deliver operator training programs to ensure operator compliance with approved procedures.
4. Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements. Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
5. Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
6. Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
7. Provide manufacturing engineering information and technical support by answering questions and requests from operators and others as required.
8. Keep equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service. Review and ensure the completeness of the detailed preventative maintenance program for all company equipment. Oversee the compliance of our selected manufacturing partner with all preventative maintenance requirements. Make necessary changes in the preventative maintenance program as required based upon operating experiences and events. programs.
9. Use experience and engineering knowledge to develop equipment specifications for new equipment and production lines. Identify potential suppliers and sources of equipment. Deliver equipment specifications and requests for quotation as necessary to provide a competitive bid environment. Develop project schedules to support the readiness of equipment to meet market requirements.
10. Respond to all vendor requests for information and evaluate all submitted proposals for conformance to specifications. Make recommendations to management based upon technical and economic factors as well as other factors such as serviceability and safety.
11. Oversee the selected equipment suppliers during the production phase to ensure compliance to project schedules and cost milestones.
12. Develop all acceptance criteria and perform Factory and Site Acceptance Testing as necessary to ensure full vendor compliance. Oversee installation and the introduction of the new manufacturing equipment into the selected manufacturer's facilities. De-bug and oversee start up of equipment and the transfer of operational responsibility to the selected manufacturer.
13. Maintain product and process data base by writing computer programs; entering data. Complete design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.
14. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
15. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
