The ideal candidate has strong debugging and diagnostic skills, hands-on experience with automotive networking and firmware testing, and enjoys working cross-functionally in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. As a Manufacturing Diagnostics Engineer, you will: Serve as the first line of defense for electrical, firmware, and functional issues on the drive module manufacturing assembly, including software, firmware, harnessing, networking (CAN, LIN, Automotive & Standard Ethernet, GMSL), hardware, and infrastructure. Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and firmware issues at the manufacturing supplier (e.g., flashing firmware, updating test sequences, repairing harness connectors, terminals, and wires). Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to interpret component- and vehicle-level requirements and translate them into scalable, system-level validation test scripts and cases.7 Develop work instructions, troubleshooting guides, and workaround documentation for operators on the manufacturing line. Design and implement next-generation diagnostic architectures to support higher-volume production in future manufacturing lines. The Manufacturing Engineer establishes manufacturing procedures, collects data, performs some design work, evaluates problems and develops solutions. They will collect, monitor, and distribute documentation related to quality management and performance systems. Use analytic tools and traditional industrial engineering methods to optimize Assembly Line production functions. Key Accountabilities Assist in developing a balanced process across manufacturing areas using Maynard Operation Sequence Technique (M.O.S.T.) Apply lean manufacturing techniques to support process efficiency and meet Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Morale, Environment (SQCDM) targets. Design and implement processes that are simple and effective. Audit and maintain data to ensure accurate information across all operations standards. Perform basic time estimates for production processes and equipment loads. Support the develop and refinement of operation standards. Support Stamping / Plastics Department Lead for Process Data Development and Analysis (PDDA), MDRS, EOS systems. Participate in meetings with Honda functional groups to discuss improvement themes in Quality, Safety, Delivery, Production, Purchasing, Packaging, or Logistics. Identify opportunities to reduce waste within the process and improve efficiency. Apply 5S work methods, workstation design, and set best practices for production. Evaluate and implement ergonomic countermeasures to prevent associate injury. Assist in developing plans and schedules for projects. Support New Model Events by incorporating change points into process design, and identifying concerns and countermeasure before mass production. Maintain accurate AutoCAD department layout. Read Parts drawings, Spec Notices, 3D CATIA data. Create charts and presentations to report status and plans for key department metrics. Collect feedback from the production floor and address their concerns. Provide project support for all items impacting Assembly Department associate process. Qualifications/Experience/Skills Minimum Educational Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing) or Work Previous Experience of 6 years that is equivalent. Minimum Experience: 0-6 years of experience based on education. Other Job-Specific Skills: Excel VBA, Standard Time Evaluation, Workstation Design, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Customer Service Working Conditions Generally first shift production hours, occasional split/second shift support required. 0-5 hours OT weekly. 50% Fast-paced high-energy manufacturing environment and 50% office environment. Providing Manufacturing Plant support, including training, time studies, standard work auditing and troubleshooting. Interact with and train plant personnel. Skills and Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field is required. At least 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment is required. Candidates with 5-10 years' experience in Manufacturing Process Engineering are encouraged to apply. Experience in analytical methods and formal problem-solving methodologies is required. Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience is a plus. Experience with metallurgy, cement chemistry, and adhesives or coatings is a plus. Experience with simulation modeling for new and existing processes is a plus.
