Qualifications:
Typically requires a bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing or electrical engineering, or related field or equivalent experience and training.
Typically requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in an automated manufacturing environment, from any of these types of highly regulated manufacturing industries: medical devices, automotive, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, defense/aerospace.
Working knowledge of statistical methods, process capability studies, Process Flow Diagrams, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis and manufacturing processes.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Transmission & Substation (T&S) Standards are responsible for maintaining and developing new standards and engineering practices that ensure standardized, efficient, safe, and cost-effective designs. T&S Standards include Engineering Practices, Engineering Standard Practices, Material Specifications, Construction Specifications and Generic Design Drawings. This consists of various responsibilities including reviewing, updating, and facilitating the development of T&S design standards, while working closely with the T&S groups to ensure effective standard implementation. Provides technical expertise to strategic, legislative and operational decisions. Position Overview
As a Process Engineering Intern, you will work closely with the engineering team to develop a range of skills. Requirements
Experience:
Must be a junior or senior studying chemical engineering.
Sophomores demonstrating knowledge in the right coursework will be considered.
Comfortable with fluid mechanics, kinetics, heat transfer, and mass transfer, especially as they relate to process units.
Comfortable with standard workshop tools.
Having previous research experience is a plus.
Having previous industry experience is a plus.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This internship is for Summer 2026.
The Process Engineer Intern at Cornerstone Building Brands is responsible for learning and subsequently implementing the Cornerstone Production System methodology on multiple production lines and throughout different systems and processes. Reporting directly to the Continuous Improvement Manager, this role will be on-site in Paris, IL and will work closely with the operations team.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Designs the ability to produce a quality product into the process.
Identify and analyze manufacturing problems to control and improve manufacturing.
Develops all necessary process and audit documentation (i.e. Visual Work Instructions, Standard Work Combination Table, Process Control Adherence Audit, etc.)
Assesses existing processes for areas of improvement utilizing Lean Manufacturing concepts (Kaizen, TPM, Value Stream Mapping, etc.) Six Sigma, designed experiment techniques, capability studies, etc.
Designs and/or sources equipment for manufacturing processes; evaluates and recommends implementation of competitive technology.
Leads, where applicable, or works in conjunction with plant maintenance to ensure that the facility and equipment are maintained and updated consistent with short- and long-term goals and objectives.
Conduct time studies.
Provides training, as required, to associates.
Leads, where applicable, or works in conjunction with Quality Assurance, to monitor and document quality standards.
Presents capstone project as directed at the conclusion of the internship program.
Performs other duties as assigned.

**Primary Purpose**
Transmission & Substation (T&S) Standards are responsible for maintaining and developing new standards and engineering practices that ensure standardized, efficient, safe, and cost-effective designs. This position is responsible for Overhead Transmission Line Engineering Design Standards including voltages of 765kV, 345kV, 138kV & 69kV.

Provides technical expertise to strategic, legislative and operational decisions.
