Prime Air is seeking an experienced Sr. Material Compliance Engineer, Environmental and Product Compliance, who will develop design-for-compliance specification and plan, troubleshoot and resolve compliance issues that arise in the course of Prime Air's NPI and other business processes. Key job responsibilities
1) Implement Prime Air's material and product compliance strategy, roadmap, and specification in the area of hazardous substances, and material safety to meet business objectives such as new product launch, new site launch, new technology development, onboarding new ODMs, etc.
2) Create procedures and guidelines to mitigate compliance issues early in the design phase, and ensure that hardware meets governmental and industry regulations in international markets.
3) Deliver compliance risk assessment, design-for-compliance specification, design review, and certifications/declarations during product development to ensure new hardware design meeting technical compliance requirement in the global market.
4) Influence internal and external partners and stakeholders to align on a compliance solution or mitigation path that favors our business objectives during product development and operation.
5) Engage closely with hardware and supplier teams on product development to determine the impact of the proposed regulatory changes on HW design, performance, reliability, and compliance.
6) Develop key metrics to evaluate material and product compliance engineering program's performance, and build implementation plans to confirm our performance and compliance, against program metrics, internal company requirements, and regulations
7) Participate in design reviews to ensure EMC/EMI and RF (Ka/Wi-Fi/BT) mitigations are properly implemented in the designs.

What You'll Be Doing
You will be at the forefront of designing the world's first continuous fusion fuel cycle - an opportunity to redefine the future of clean energy for the modern world. You will lead process design and implementation for major systems in our fuel cycle, taking systems from concept to commissioning. You'll work with engineers, scientists, and technicians across the company, with a focus on scaling up and integrating these systems into our commercial fusion platform. You will report to the Fuel Cycle Manager and work onsite at our Everett, WA office.
You Will
* Own creation-to-integration engineering for major components of the fuel cycle, including system process design, procurement, installation, and commissioning
* Perform detailed design for process equipment such as columns, reactors, membranes, heaters, pumps, and piping under varied conditions (ambient, cryogenic, and vacuum)
* Use process simulation tools to support design development, integration, and case studies
* Produce important deliverables including PFDs, P&IDs, H&MBs, HAZOPs, and sizing calculations
* Independently lead projects across engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, controls, and operations) to deliver fully integrated process designs
* Lead high-level design reviews to validate solutions and incorporate feedback into systems
* Mentor fuel cycle engineers and work cross-functionally to build technical capabilities across Helion

As a Composites MP&P Engineer in APA, you will work with experienced mentors to create requirements for the fabrication, assembly and test of composites components to support the development of new production systems. You will lead materials selection, process development, material/part characterization and troubleshooting of polymer matrix and fiber-reinforced composite systems for aerospace solutions. You will work closely with our Robotics & Automation teams to transition new automated fabrication and assembly technologies into manufacturing demonstrations and test builds. Position Responsibilities Include
Support development and optimization of composite materials-prepregs, adhesives, and core materials-and related consumables
Develop and validate automated manufacturing processes (e.g. pick and place, lamination, automated fiber placement, green trim, forming, etc)
Perform materials characterization and testing: mechanical (tensile, compression, shear), thermal (DMA, TGA, DSC), moisture uptake and microscopy to characterize processes
Collect, analyze, and summarize experimental data; prepare test reports and present findings to the team

What You Will Be Doing:
You will play a key role in developing designs and materials suited for high-radiation environments, providing analysis and guidance to engineers on the behavior and performance of a wide range of materials under radiation exposure. In this onsite role, based at our Everett, WA office, you will report to the Director of Materials Science and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to advance Helion's mission.
You Will:
* Advise engineering design decisions based on radiation effects (due to neutrons) on materials used within the radiation shield vault, e.g., metals used in magnet coils, dielectrics used for structure, and ceramics
* Partner with neutronics engineers to predict dpa, analyze, model, and predict macroscopic effects on material properties including thermal conductivity, electrical resistivity, and mechanical strength. Assess system-level radiation risk
* Oversee testing campaigns to quantify impact of radiation on material properties
* Lead strategic projects to expand capabilities
* Perform literature reviews on radiation effects on materials of interest and distill the information into summaries for non-nuclear engineers
* Operate in an environment with obstacles and changing requirements. Balance risks without compromising the delivery
* Partner with other internal Helion teams, external vendors, national laboratories, and universities to gather the required capabilities. Develop your network and represent Helion at technical meetings and conferences
Required Skills:
* A professional understanding of radiation effects on materials, typically demonstrated by a degree in nuclear engineering, materials science, physics, or related discipline and 15+ years of hands-on work
* 15+ years of experience handling radioactive material
* 8+ years of experience working on non-aqueous corrosion and environmentally assisted degradation mechanisms (e.g., stress corrosion cracking, creep, accelerated fatigue)
* 8+ years of experience working on neutron interactions leading to e.g., material transmutation or helium bubble generation
* 8+ years of experience performing data analysis with a common coding language (Python, MATLAB, C++), data presentation, technical communication, and writing
* Data presentation should include rigorous consideration of uncertainty and statistics

This is an exempt salaried role.
Annual Base Pay
$200,000-$275,000 USD
