This position is a hybrid This will be a permanent Floating Examiner position to cover open desks due to Vacations, Leaves of Absence, new business onboarding, increased pending inventories, Auditing, etc. At the Direction of the Claims Supervisor and/or Manager, under minimal supervision, manages all aspects of Workers' Compensation claims (complex, litigated, non-disabling) claims from inception to conclusion within established authority and guidelines. The position requires considerable interaction with clients, claimants, medical providers, Attorneys, vendors, nurses and Vocational Case Managers, and other TRISTAR staff. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Effectively manages a Temporary caseload of Workers' Compensation claim files, including very complex and litigated claims. * Initiates and conducts investigations in a timely manner. * Determines compensability of claims and administer benefits based upon state law and TRISTAR Best Practices for claim handling. * Manages medical treatment and medical billing, authorizing as appropriate. * Refers cases to outside defense counsel and participates in litigated matters. * Communicate with claimants, attorneys, providers and vendors regarding claims issues. * Work in an organized and proactive manner. * Computes and set reserves within Company guidelines. * Settles and/or finalize all claims and obtains authority as designated. * Maintains a diary system for case review and documents file to reflect the status and work being performed on the file, including a plan of action. * Communicates appropriate information promptly to the client to resolve claims efficiently, including any injury trends or other safety related concerns. * Conducts file reviews as scheduled by the client and management.* Identify and review claims for Apportionment assignment. * Identify and investigate subrogation potential and pursue recovery.* Identify claim standard criteria for excess reporting and reimbursement.* Assist with State Audit and reporting responses.* Mentors less experienced Examiners Other duties as assigned and including claims management of other jurisdictional workers' comp claims. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS To Perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function. Safely operate Powered Industrial Trucks by securing material prior to handling or storing and by operating at reasonable speeds and control. Levels- Fork lift, Reach lift. Safely pull, process, and perform inspections of materials, supplies, tools, fixtures, and parts. Responsible for shipping, pulling orders and completing required customer orders and paperwork. Move materials within the warehouse and assist in other warehouse activities as directed by Supervisor or Manager. Move freight, stock, and other materials to and from staging and processing areas. Monitor machinery and equipment operation to ensure all product meets performance specifications and requirements. Promptly notify supervisor of any quality or production issue. Maintain good housekeeping and regularly clean work area, machines, and equipment. Identify and contribute to continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs or increase productivity without reducing effectiveness. Maintain an open and candid working relationship with immediate supervisor/manager in discussing matters of importance. Adhere to all safety guidelines, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) preventing incidents or injury to self or others. Adhere to established company values, practices, policies, and procedures at all times. Follow and support compliance with all applicable safety rules, laws, regulations, and standards. Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance at the assigned work location. MARGINAL FUNCTIONS The individual may be asked to perform other duties as requested. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES An individual qualified for this job must be able to: Operate a computer basic PC proficiency; (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and reporting software). Accurately multiply, divide, add, and subtract whole numbers to resolve practical problems. Wear/use required PPE (personal protective equipment). Learn and effectively operate equipment and work processes in accordance with standard operating procedures, including attention to details and be accountable, as necessary. Conduct required quality checks and tests. Visibly inspect equipment to detect any problems and make adjustments, as needed. Demonstrate good mechanical and operational understanding of equipment. Understand written instruction and complete appropriate documentation as directed. Able to read orders and labels without transposing part numbers. Use a logical approach to troubleshooting issues and prioritizing production needs. Recognize problems when they occur and to work toward the solution of those problems. Pay attention to details and pursue quality in accomplishing work duties and tasks. Look for opportunities to reduce costs or increase productivity without reducing effectiveness. Handle challenges skillfully, thoroughly, and effectively. Effectively and professionally communicate with co-workers, team members, and internal or external customers. Present information clearly and accurately. Independently take advantage of opportunities to improve or increase skills, abilities, and job knowledge. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND CERTIFICATIONS An individual qualified for this job must have and maintain the following qualifications: 1+ years of distribution experience or a satisfactory combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the above duties. Must be able to obtain forklift license through Highline Warren Distribution. Powered Industrial Truck Certification Preferred. The individual will be expected to work in a warehouse environment, which may include being exposed to work in high/precarious places, moving machinery, marked changes in temperature and humidity, and dust, odors, and fumes.
