Collaborate with the newsroom to integrate digital storytelling into broadcast workflows and improve cross-platform coordination
Oversee social media strategy, including tone, posting cadence, live streams, and engagement tactics
Leverage analytics (e.g., Chartbeat, Google Analytics, social insights, Crowdtangle) to inform content decisions and optimize performance
Create and refine workflows that support speed, accuracy, and impactful digital journalism
Ensure SEO best practices are followed for headlines, tagging, and story structure
Participate in long-term planning, special coverage, digital exclusives, and audience-first initiatives
Uphold WFTV's standards for accuracy, ethics, and brand voice across all digital platforms
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Digital Media, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Proven ability to manage breaking news in a fast-paced, multitasking environment
Strong editorial judgment with a deep understanding of digital audiences and content performance
Expertise in SEO, analytics tools, CMS workflows, and social media publishing platforms
Understanding of AP Style, media law, and ethical journalism standards
Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as news demands
Preferred Qualifications
3-5+ years of experience in a digital news environment, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership or supervisory role preferred

Candidates should be tech-savvy, organized, and confident in managing client information, follow-ups, and tasking within a fast-paced sales environment.

The EP assists in all aspects of leading and managing a team such as establishing schedules, goal setting, and employee relations and works closely with fellow managers to craft and execute successful strategies and newscasts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Newscast & Brand Management - 90%
Ensure product stays on brand.
Manage breaking news.
Copy edits stories in newscasts to ensure they are on target with research objectives.
Manages story count and placement. Must be intimate with the rundown. Manage story count vs. big story coverage.
Set the coverage expectation by holding meetings with producers and conducting newscast critiques.
Manage repetition within newscasts and from newscast to newscast.
Ensures the product stays on brand. Holds producers accountable on story selection and ensures anchors and meteorologists stay on target with delivery.
Manages breaking news. Ensures that we are on the air quickly. Monitors the execution in the control room. Facilitates drills to ensure talent is up to speed.
Innovate to match research as viewing behavior changes.
Executes live-streaming strategy to encourage viewership on mobile and on other digital platforms.
Works closely with talent on social posts to encourage viewership of the newscast.
Crafts newscasts look by working with the Creative Services Department.
Holds writing seminars and trains new employees.
