Product applications engineer job description

We are now looking for an expert Hardware Applications Engineer with the ability to focus on customer enablement of datacenter products, work with customers and internal teams to resolve hardware, firmware and software issues, and provide key technical collateral. This is a highly technical engineering role that is responsible for providing best-in-class support to NVIDIA's enterprise customers. We are looking for someone who has superb interpersonal skills, and can understand, explain, and solve customer problems. This position will focus on NVIDIA enterprise datacenter products in workstation and server applications.
What you'll be doing:

Perform system design reviews for data center applications to ensure partner designs meet NVIDIA guidelines. Work on resolving system integration issues related to thermal, mechanical, electrical, PCIe and GPU interconnect interfaces including out of band management services. Understand system design requirements for HPC and AI workloads to drive platform configuration guides for x86 and ARM servers. Conduct the installation, configuration and bring-up of enterprise server hardware. Work directly with our NVIDIA customers, and analyze data to answer questions, reproduce errors, resolve same, or escalate customer issues. Be involved in customer interaction, customer communication via conference calls, or face to face meetings Familiarize yourself with performing hardware debug using oscilloscope and analyzers to qualify, validate and solve NVIDIA products for customer systems. Track, file new bugs and reproduce issues as needed. Create product specifications, hardware design guides, application notes, and other supporting technical collateral.



What we need to see:


BS or higher in EE, CE or Systems Engineering or equivalent experience. 3+ years of relevant experience in supporting enterprise datacenter products for x86 or ARM architecture. Have strong analytical skills and past experience in reviewing enterprise system design and CPU architecture. Understanding of x86 and ARM system architecture for server design including BMC, security and out of band management. Professional-level interpersonal skills, including your ability to adjust your communication to the technical level of the audience. An innate capability to accurately and succinctly communicate procedures, results, and recommendations to customers. Experience with using lab tools such as oscilloscope, multi-meters and logic analyzers. Possess a nurtured knowledge of Linux, and be very comfortable working in various Linux environments as well as with Windows OS's

As a Product Applications Engineer you will be responsible for new product definition and architecture of Allegro's next generation magnetic Sensor IC products. You will be asked to integrate new sensing technologies and develop unique customer solutions. Allegro Microsystems, LLC is a world leader in magnetic sensor ICs for the automotive industry, which is requiring greater numbers of sensors, as well as more advanced sensors, for hybrid and electric vehicle (EV) applications (ADAS - advance driver assistance systems). Allegro's sensors are also widely used in industrial applications (robotics, motor drives, etc...) and consumer applications (green solutions).

In this role you will be part of the product development team, working closely with technology specialists, IC designers, product evaluators, and marketing/sales personnel. You will be asked to:

Join forces with field application engineers, sales, and marketing to create initial product requirements by understanding the customer application requirements (electrical, mechanical, EMI/EMC) and performing functional system modeling Team up with Allegro technologists to understand and integrate new sensing technologies in order to advance the performance of Allegro's sensor ICsDefine new product architectures (both at the IC and magnetic system level) and algorithms that enable cutting-edge solutions for current and future customer systems, filing multiple IP (Intellectual Property) applications a year Lead the feasibility study for new products in conjunction with IC design engineers and marketing and present the results (new product definition, product manufacturing flow, elevator pitch, etc..) to upper management for approval to start product development Provide technical guidance and support to the development team during the design and evaluation of the new product before market release, including:Review the IC design before silicon tape out through prototyping, modeling, and simulation Propose the test strategy and work with the evaluation engineering groups to ensure compliance to the product requirements author datasheets and other technical support material for new products
Qualifications
Requires a BSEE with 5+ years of experience or MSEE with 3+ years.A solid understanding of analog and digital electronics, as well as magnetics is essential in this position.It is a plus to have a background in power electronics, for example: EV charging, power converters (DC/DC, buck/boost), solar inverters.Knowledge of MATLAB / Simulink or other modeling tools is desirable.Must possess interpersonal and communication skills as contributing member of the team.Knowledge and background in the semiconductor industry, including manufacturing and packaging, is desired.

We are looking for an experienced PLM Application Engineer to add their skills to our team supporting sustainment efforts for the U.S. Navy's Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) weapon system for the TRIDENT II D5 OHIO CLASS submarine and the future COLUMBIA CLASS submarine replacement program. The primary responsibility of this position is to technically lead work as part of a development, deployment, and sustainment team for PLM engineering solutions, which includes configuration management, process development, and requirements traceability. Additionally, this position will provide technical assistance with configuration, test, deployment and implementation of PLM technology to support system engineering processes and expansion into related areas of business to provide the SSP customer an integrated digital solution.
In this job, you will:
Perform professional technical work that requires in-depth knowledge and diversified application of product lifecycle management or data management principles, theories, concepts, practices and techniques; Ensure execution of configuration management processes across the lifecycle, and report on project status and progress measured against specific plans; Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and integrated product teams (IPTs) to modernize policies and processes, and provide PLM support with implementation into an emerging digital engineering environment; Support the transformation of paper-based documents to digital or model-based products; Research emerging trends, techniques, methods, and current best practices in the evolution of product lifecycle management or data management in a model-based environment, and be willing to be on the forefront and cutting edge of this rapidly growing field; Routinely develop and update PLM system requirement specifications, including the mapping of new requirements to PLM capabilities; Perform verification and validation activities to analyze configuration gaps between legacy and transition systems, including regression testing to confirm updated system capabilities; Coordinate the migration of multiple design documents (3D CAD, DOORS, SysML, etc.), work processes and aging systems into a single Windchill PLM architecture; Prepare, maintain and facilitate training for internal and external users; Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in PLM Technology to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficiency when applied to objectives, identifying new opportunities or advantages for the adoption of PLM services for current and future requirements.


Required Education, Experience, & Skills


A bachelor's degree in an Engineering or Technical Discipline, or equivalent experience;
6+ years of work experience with PTC Windchill; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; An Active SECRET clearance or above;


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills


Experience with SSP Programs organization and working processes; A master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Software, Mathematics or Physics is preferred; Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) IT network systems is preferred; 2+ years of work experience with PLM/CAD/DOORS integration and implementation; Intermediate experience with SysML development and implementation is preferred Beginner to intermediate knowledge of 3D Modeling (preferably using Creo Parametric); Beginner to intermediate knowledge of DOORS; Experience in document to model-based transfer/conversion is preferred;
