ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are seeking a Human-Centered Design Support Specialist to assist with various aspects of human-centered design projects. Contribute to project-level communications, logistics, and other tasks as needed, including preparing design session facilitation supplies, making copies, updating documents such as participant spreadsheets, and assisting in post-event clean-up.
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors Engineering, Behavioral Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
Professional Experience: At least three years of relevant experience working as a human-centered designer.
Core Expertise: Basic understanding of human-centered design and/or design thinking with the ability to contribute insights into business processes and solutions.
Specializations: Basic strengths in at least two of the following areas: user experience research, analysis, and interaction; product design support; futures thinking; facilitation skills.

Work Model
This is a full-time position based at one of the major Aerospace sites including Chantilly, VA, El Segundo, CA, and Colorado Springs, CO; offering a hybrid work model that combines at least 4 regular onsite workdays per week and remote flexibility as the business needs allow.
What You'll Be Doing
* Serving as key technical expert and point of contact for department projects in the area of space network design and optimization, space architecture design and optimization, and orbital analysis
* Leveraging in-house and commercial- and government-off-the-shelf engineering analysis tools to deliver technical insights through analytical deep dives, trade studies, and assessments in department focus areas
* Contributing to efforts expanding department optimization capabilities to support a broader set of mission domains and architectures

Minimum Requirements for the Engineering Specialist

* 6 or more years of relevant and progressive professional or academic experience
* Expertise in one or more of the following: optimization techniques, space network design, graph theory, orbital mechanics, or mathematics related to satellite access geometry
* Experience with modeling and simulation tools in support of architecture assessment, analysis of alternatives, constellation design and optimization, orbital analysis, network design, or space security and defense
* Significant history of consistent contribution to multiple substantial technical analytical or development projects through their successful fruition

* Knowledge of Python, C, C++, Matlab, or another programming language
* This position requires a current and active TS/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance

Description of Job

This position provides professional services to include project management, master planning, facility programming, regulatory agency approvals, design guidelines, construction standards, construction budgeting, contractor/consultant selection, code compliance reviews, design reviews, ensures compliance with legislative intent, as well as a leading role in coordination with private sector design consultants and coordination of engineering disciplines for "in-house" projects. They will facilitate the long term planning of new construction modifications to existing physical plants in providing owner/state representation and management of all CDOC construction projects and in designing and coordinating implementation facility condition audits for existing facilities.
Primary job duties include, but are not limited to:
Provide Computer Aided Design (AutoCAD) support to the FMS unit using architectural and construction experience. This includes documentation related to capital renewal, capital construction, controlled maintenance, leases, project directives, life safety, contingency requests, Americans with Disability Act (ADA) and FMS records;
Create, edit and update detailed drawings of new and existing conditions in DOC facilities and leased spaces;
Provide drawings, technical writing support, architectural programs and spreadsheets for the FMS unit;
Create forms, compose correspondence, develop and edit various documents for the FMS unit;
Coordinate end user requirements with the overall DOC strategic plan to assist the design teams in producing a project that can be justified and receive the appropriation necessary to implement;
Work with the FMS architects and project managers to solve construction issues that arise during the implementation of improvements at DOC facilities or leased spaces;
Provide architectural support to FMS for CDOC;
Evaluate third party (design professionals or contractors) recommended solutions to solve potential issues at DOC facilities or leased spaces.
