Product Design Intern
Product designer job in Dallas, TX
Copart, Inc. a technology leader and the premier online vehicle auction platform globally, with over 200 facilities located across the world, Copart links vehicle sellers to more than 750,000 buyers in over 190 countries. We believe in providing an unmatched experience, every day and everywhere, driven by our people, processes, and technology.
Join our rapidly growing Product team at Copart (CPRT), where we're seeking Product Designers to help build the future of Copart's products.
Copart has already built a business model that drives over $1 billion in cash flow each year and is now scaling the customer experience of our buyers, sellers, and partners to be world class. We no longer compare ourselves to competitors in our own business - having already transformed our corner of the industry. We are now working backwards from the customer, competing with ourselves to rebuild our current experiences and expand into adjacent businesses and creating high bar products and services that will transform the broader used vehicles industry.
Job Description
Our design team is a fast-moving group of hustlers that build and analyze to drive outcomes - not to burn meaningful hours on academic exercises. We are more startup than we are corporate - but we do believe in strong mechanisms that drive high bar design - like bar raiser meetings, innovation days and more.
In this role, you will be designing an array of products - working on those products for enough time to be expert but not so much time that you become bored or exhaust your ability to bring fresh eyes to the work. Design leaders at Copart craft engaging interactions by advocating for the customer based on quantitative and qualitative analysis, debating their points of view passionately (strong beliefs, loosely held), and carry the torch for high utility designs that drive P&L impacts.
Key Responsibilities
Do the work to understand the customer - whatever it takes.
Work with product management or independently to collect product requirements.
Understand the value of low fidelity, wire frame, and high fidelity / pixel perfect designs.
Balance aesthetic value, market norms, and novel interactions to drive delightful outcomes.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of designers, product managers, engineers, researchers, subject matter experts, copywriters, and legal.
Help turn the bones of a design system into something more modern, sophisticated and of high utility to designers and coders.
Locations
Dallas, TX
Rare remote exceptions made.
Required Qualifications
An online portfolio or samples of work demonstrating relevant experience.
1+ years of user experience design experience in a high bar organization.
Proficiency in design, prototyping, and creating user flows in Figma.
Some experience working across multiple platforms (e.g., products, websites, mobile apps, etc.)
Ability to transform ambiguous and mundane needs into clear and delightful experiences.
A constant commitment to growth - learning from the past and looking to the future.
Some technical knowledge of HTML, CSS, Native Mobile App patterns.
A basic understanding of accessibility and its applications in ecommerce.
Benefits Summary:
Medical
Compensation: $20 - $23 hourly

User Interface Designer
Product designer job in Fort Worth, TX
We are seeking a senior -level UI/UX Designer to lead the design strategy for a mission-critical human-machine interface (HMI) used by soldiers operating systems within military vehicles. This role focuses on conceptual design and user experience optimization, not software implementation. The ideal candidate will excel in translating complex operational needs into intuitive, efficient, and context-aware interface designs suited for high-stress environments. This position involves migrating a legacy dual-screen interface to a modern single-screen design, likely a touchscreen optimized for finger input without the use of a stylus. The primary user input will be through a joystick or gamepad-style controller, featuring physical buttons for interaction. While a keyboard may be present within the vehicle, minimizing its use is a key design priority. Preference will be given to those with experience in developing interfaces for real-world, complex systems such as industrial machinery, automotive controls, or tactical equipment. The role also includes creating all production artwork to be used in the GUI.
Responsibilities
+ Develop storyboards, flowcharts, wireframes, graphical mockups, and artwork proposals that define intuitive UI/UX concepts for soldier-operated systems.
+ Design nested menu structures and interaction flows that minimize cognitive load and maximize operational efficiency in chaotic or hazardous environments.
+ Design final production artwork for the GUI.
+ Collaborate closely with software developers to ensure accurate implementation of design concepts.
+ Clearly articulate and document design rationale, usability considerations, and interface logic for development teams.
+ Interface with end customers and equipment to understand operational constraints and user needs.
+ Conduct user-centered design reviews and iterate based on feedback from stakeholders and subject matter experts.
Essential Skills
+ Ideally 6+ years of experience in UI/UX design, preferably in defense, aerospace, automotive cockpit, or other high-stakes environments.
+ Strong portfolio demonstrating interface design for complex systems with layered functionality.
+ Experience designing for touchscreen interfaces, embedded systems, or mobile platforms.
+ Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Axure, or similar.
+ Proficiency with graphical editing tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, or similar.
+ Excellent communication skills with the ability to justify design decisions and collaborate across disciplines.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Familiarity with human factors engineering and usability principles in constrained or tactical environments is a plus.
Work Environment
This is a 100% onsite role in a Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) center located in Troy, MI. Occasional travel to customer sites within the continental US may be required to interact with equipment and operational personnel. The designer will work separately from the software development team, focusing on design deliverables and documentation.
