Product Designer
Product Designer Job 23 miles from Magna
Pageport helps businesses convert more leads. We believe the current experience of being / converting a lead is miserable, and we are on a mission to make it delightful, both for the lead and for the business contacting the lead.
We do this by creating personalized, video-based websites for each individual lead and automating the communication through all channels available (email, SMS, phone, etc.). Our current customer is professional services businesses, mainly financial advisors, who pay for leads. Our future customer is any business paying for leads.
We are growing faster than we really know what to do with (ARR +830% in the last year) and our future goals are even more ambitious. The problem we're solving is real, our customers love the product, and our confidence is increasing every day. We truly believe we have a clear path to define a new segment of tools, build an amazing company, and make a lot of people a lot of money. To do this, we need to hire amazing people who are as ambitious as we are.
Our culture
Pageport is currently a team of seven employees (two engineers). We have a strong company belief that the best strategy for non-linear growth at a startup is to hire amazing, experienced people and let them cook. We believe this in all roles, but super believe this for product and engineering roles.
At Pageport, we work hard. We strive to be excellent and to create delightful experiences. We believe that good, clean writing is a differentiator in everything we do, from the code we write to the support tickets we answer. We default to moving fast, but make conscious decisions to slow down. We prioritize creating solutions over solving problems whenever possible. We prefer doing the work to talking about the work and generally hate management.
Although we never went to YCombinator, we strive to embody the idea that startups should do two things: write code and talk to customers. If any activity doesn't fit into one of those buckets we do everything we can to automate, outsource, or eliminate the task.
Pageport is a 100% in-person company located in Lehi, Utah.
Pageport design
At Pageport, we pride ourselves in creating delightful experiences. Up to this point, all things design have mainly gone through me (👋, Max here). Although I'm by no means trained as a designer, I am extremely passionate about design and creating great experiences. We take a lot of inspiration from tools / companies we believe also create delightful products (mainly Linear, Shopify, Intercom, and Hubspot) and rely on Dribbble / Mobbin for other outside inspiration. We are big fans of TailwindCSS and Adam Wathan / Steve Schoger's book, Refactoring UI.
Pageport designs its software for our end users, who are not the most technically savvy and need a lot of hand holding. As we grow and our ability to hand-hold every customer decreases, we find ourself in need of more help on the design side of things. We want to make our app 10x easier to use, 10x more delightful, and 10x prettier. We want to hire an amazing designer to spearhead this movement.
At Pageport we really believe in opportunistically moving slow to move fast. We super believe this in product design. We want designs that are beautifully simple, easy to implement, and simple to extend. There is no greater delight than adding a feature and having it be 50% easier than planned because the existing design / code is easy to work with. In design on day-to-day tickets I'd say we operate in an 10/80/10 model. Design is responsible for relatively rough sketches (10%), engineers are responsible for the “meat” of the project (80%), and design is brought back in for the final 10% to make it beautiful / add finishing touches.
This role will be working hand-in-hand with Max in planning and designing all components and features and working with engineers on implementing your designs. If you are an ambitious, hard-working designer who loves creating delightful experiences and you get excited at the idea of designing a product from the ground-up, you should apply. We are a group of opinionated individuals who try and hold their opinions very loosely, so being strong-willed and opinionated without being too stubborn is a huge plus.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years professional product design experience, preferably at a high-growth startup
Passion for the entire design process, from solution architecting to system design to design review of individual tickets
Strong communication skills - ability to push back on ideas when you disagree / ability to reconsider ideas when pushed back on
Ability to tweak existing products with simple changes that make large impact without having to redesign the entire system
Obsession with customers - we expect designers to interact directly with our customers to brainstorm solutions, user-test designs, and gather feedback on the existing product
Available to work in-office 5 days / week in Lehi, UT
Salary / benefits
$100,000 - $130,000 / year + benefits + equity
Cover 100% of healthcare costs / premiums
Significant equity option grant
