Direct or oversight responsibility for many of the capital projects undertaken at Vantage Oleochemicals. The normal flow of events in a project may include: completion of project design and developing a firm cost estimate, firm project design and a commitment on equipment, developing bid packages and going to contractors for bids on equipment and installation, coordinating and checking the actual construction, start-up and modifications of finished equipment and an Advice of Physical Completion for the project, and recommending routing maintenance, spare parts, listing necessary information and a financial closing (over or under estimate and why). May act as a Field Construction Manager or, in some cases, the Commissioning Manager. In the area of technical assistance, the incumbent investigates problems of a production, maintenance or technical nature, such as equipment failure or a process bottleneck. Problem Solving: Study existing situations (equipment, processes, manufacturing procedures, etc.), considering possible improvements or modifications, and preparing reports complete with conclusions and recommendations as a result of studies. Incumbent plans or assist in planning the approach to projects or segments of projects assigned by supervisor and for plant turnarounds. The Manufacturing Engineer will be the technical bridge between the Engineering Manager and Setup Technicians while owning the process from the initial PartMarker program to the physical "First-Off" setup on our Star Swiss, Takisawa, and Haas machines. *This position works a schedule of Monday thru Friday from 6:00am-2:30pm. The pay range is between $28.00-$45.00/hr. depending on experience* Essential Duties and Responsibilities Create high-efficiency, multi-channel programs for Star Swiss machines using PartMaker. You will optimize "Wait Codes" and synchronization to minimize idle time and maximize throughput. Take full responsibility for the initial setup of new, complex parts. You will physically set the tools, align the guide bushings on the Stars, and bore the jaws on the Takisawa/Haas lathes. Before handing a job over to our Setup Persons, you will verify the process is stable, the tool life is predictable, and the cycle time is optimized. Select and implement high-performance tooling and high-pressure coolant strategies, specifically focusing on chip control in the tight envelopes of a Star machine. Act as the "on-the-floor" expert for the setup team, helping them troubleshoot difficult offsets or mechanical chatter issues on the Takisawa and Haas cells. Experience, Qualifications, and Skills 7+ years' experience of CNC machining with at least 3 years in a Manufacturing Engineering role. Must be able to demonstrate a track record of setting up complex Swiss and Turning jobs from scratch. Ability to edit G-code at the machine and write custom macros when PartMaker needs a manual tweak. Proficiency in PartMaker (Autodesk) is required. Must be able to manage multi-axis synchronization and simulation. Extensive hands-on setup experience with Star (SR, SB, or SV series) machines, including guide bushing adjustment and sub-spindle handoff. Strong setup and programming skills for Takisawa (Fanuc) and Haas (ST-Series) fixed-head lathes. Deep knowledge of Fanuc (Star/Takisawa) and Haas control architecture. Ability to interpret complex blueprints and ensure setups meet sub-thousandth tolerances consistently.
