A Senior Mechanical/Piping Engineer performs mechanical design of oil and gas production facilities, including new installations as well as upgrades and retrofits to existing upstream and midstream facilities.
Position Duties/Responsibilities:
· Assignments will vary depending on the nature of projects received from clients and candidate's applicable work experience, expertise, and proficiency.
· Develop P&IDs or process/mechanical flow sheets.
· Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure an integrated design that meets the project requirements.
· Gather data, including site surveys and existing conditions data.
· Perform sizing calculations for process equipment, piping, inline instruments, valves, and pipelines using company development tools
· Develop engineering reports and associated spreadsheets.
· Familiarity with Process piping design, ISO, Piping Plan and 3D Model reviews.
· Perform troubleshooting and/or de‐bottlenecking of existing facilities to optimize production.
· Develop or alter standard project specifications to meet specific project requirements.
· Prepare data sheets for instruments and specialty items.
· Familiarity with Process piping design, ISO, Piping Plan and 3D Model reviews.
· Coordinate and direct drafters in the creation of drawings.
· Check drawings and other documents. Verify correctness of design and engineering data to verify the completeness of the documents.
· Prepare Requisition Packages
· Interface with Project Managers, Engineers, and clients, including attending project meeting.
· Assist Project Managers and design team with assembling the methodology for completing the design project effort.
· Research, learn and implement differing design techniques which may be industry specific.
· Analyze designs for efficiency of construction, use of materials, integrity, and practicality of design.
· Review certain vendor / fabricator quotations, shop drawings, and related submittals.
· Maintain project files.
· Perform the necessary field work to obtain accurate information for the design.
· Coordinate procurement activities.
· Provide construction and startup assistance.
· Projects that the Senior Mechanical/Piping Engineer could be involved with include:
- Conceptual engineering for new field or plant developments.
- Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) and Detailed Engineering for equipment addition such as production separators, oil treaters, storage tanks, pumps and gas compressors on a new and existing platform.
- Design of related process and utility systems.
- Piping system design.
- Vendor interface for static and rotating equipment packages.
- Engineering studies.
- Hazards Analysis.
Qualifications:
· Must have a BS degree or higher in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
· Requires five (5) years' experience in engineering design of onshore or offshore oil and gas facilities.
· Familiarity with total project systems to include mechanical, structural, civil, and electrical components to allow considerations of those aspects into a project or area design.
· Experience working in the Arctic Region a plus.
· Ability to do pipe stress analysis is a plus.
· P.E. or working toward PE registration is preferred.
· Familiarity with all engineering and design requirements for projects, including client provided specifications and all applicable codes and standards.
· Requires knowledge of codes and standards associated with oil and gas production facilities and equipment installations (e.g. API, ANSI, ASME, NFPA, NACE).
· Experience in midstream and upstream facilities and/or gas plant design preferred.
· May require the ability to travel to client sites.
· Availability and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
· Strong written and verbal communications skills.
· Ability to interact with staff at all levels.

Job Responsibilities:
Researches manufacturing methods to include machining, coatings, welding and assembly for valves and valve components
Coordinates activities with Process Improvement Team (Director of Manufacturing) to drive continuous improvement within ValvTechnologies and Spartak.
Works closely with Supply Chain and Quality by assisting in identifying qualified machining vendors by visiting vendors to ensure that they meet ValvTechnologies standards
Supports Operations by ensuring all Project Kickoff meetings are attended by Manufacturing Engineering and any manufacturing issues are identified and resolved
Supports Project Management to ensure all sales orders meet ValvTechnologies standards and assist in resolving all manufacturing related issues in a timely manner to drive customer on-time
Works closely with Product Engineering and Designers to ensure all product and component designs can be manufactured and discuss ideas for improvement
Works closely with Product Engineering and Production to resolve NCR's in ValvTechnologies and Spartak
Works within all ValvTechnologies departments and Spartak to drive efficiency and quality improvements
Reviews current manufacturing methods and recommends methodology, process and operational improvements and recommends modifications of existing manufacturing methodology production standards to achieve optimum output and quality within limits of equipment capability.
Develops and provides detail manufacturing routes that clearly define manufacturing steps to include selection of proper machine tools, first setup point, manufacturing steps, critical dimensions, quality hold points, inspection points, and assembly and test instructions
Provides specialty routes on demand to support rework requirements driven primarily by machine shop and vendor demands and identified Quality issues and NCR's
Review all necessary customer information/specifications, quotes, drawings, designs, schematics and BOM's to ensure compliance with all sales, QA and customer requirements
Based on job demands will investigate and determine practicality of making required valve components utilizing available inventory by providing specialty one time usage manufacturing routes
Ability to provide single use rework drawings as required
Designs and develops tooling and manufacturing methods to improve setup and production times.
Develops improved bill of materials and routing methods such as Template and/or Modular bills and routes to drive quality improvements of these tasks
Creation of and review quote, sales, production and shop drawings and files
Support Sales and Engineering efforts by performing material application and specification research to calculate, verify, and determine feasibility and viability of customer requests and specifications
Maintain and update, as needed, all ISO, ASME, API and other QA requirements
Compiles and writes training material and conducts training session on manufacturing activities.
May perform any other work-related functions as deemed necessary and appropriate by immediate supervisor

What You'll Do
The Application and Design Engineer II is a critical role in the development, design, and testing of new products while also providing advanced technical support to customers. Lead the analysis, development, and recommendation of design approaches to meet production and customer requirements for existing, new, or improved products and/or processes.
