Job Purpose:
Design protection and control relaying applications for substations with focus on Protection & Control Settings and SCADA Settings. Expected to develop or possess expertise in protective relay settings calculations and analysis based on current and evolving standards (IEEE, NERC, etc.). Provide design support to field personnel; develop and maintain sufficient level of expertise in use of CAD software for efficient production of engineering work.
Primary Functions:
Ensure accomplishment of projects through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities;
Generate plans and drawings for projects associated with protective relaying and retrofits;
Perform fault studies, relay setting calculations and relay loadability studies; ensure North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) requirements are being met;
Review calculations and relay settings performed by consultants;
Create requisitions, track materials used in relay projects, and approve invoices associated with engineering work;
Coordinate capital projects associated with protective relaying and control devices;
Work with system protection supervisor to track work flow and resources;
