This role is responsible for leading, overseeing, and performing traffic and transportation engineering design using advanced engineering principles. The position requires interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating complex design assignments with limited supervision. The Senior Traffic Design Project Engineer serves as a technical resource and mentor to less experienced engineers and supports project managers in delivering high-quality engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and perform design efforts on multiple concurrent traffic engineering projects.
Interpret client requirements and provide technical recommendations and solutions in support of project managers.
Attend client meetings as needed to support project delivery.
Plan, schedule, coordinate, and manage detailed engineering work throughout all project phases.
Apply discipline-specific engineering software and design/drafting tools.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program.
Minimum of 15 years of relevant traffic or transportation engineering experience.
Proficiency with discipline-specific engineering and design software.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work across multiple engineering disciplines.
Demonstrated presentation and technical communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineer (PE) license.

The Role

The engineer will need to:

About The Role:
Reporting to the Continuous Improvement Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, optimizing and supporting manufacturing processes to ensure efficient, cost-effective and high-quality production of our low voltage switchgear products. What You'll Be Doing:
Process Design & Optimization:
Develop and improve manufacturing processes for assembly of low voltage switchgear.
Implement lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve throughput.
Create and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and SOPs.
Production Support:
Provide technical support to resolve process and equipment issues on the shop floor.
Ensure smooth transition from design to production, including process validation.

Ensure all processes comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Conduct risk assessments for new equipment and processes.

Requirements
What You'll Need:

The position reports to the Senior Engineer. The Design Engineer must be a team player and have experience in heavy civil construction. This includes budgeting, organization, implementation, and scheduling of the project. Ensure the project is constructed in a safe, ethical manner and in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws. The Project Management Team can vary greatly depending on the size and complexity of the projects, which in turn will affect the number of responsibilities the Project Engineer will be involved in.
**Design Engineer Required Qualifications:**
+ 2+ years of heavy civil infrastructure industry experience is required
+ Proficiency in Structural software such as STAAD Pro, RISA or SAP 2000 or Geotechnical software such as CivilTech or PLAXIS and AutoCAD software
+ 2+ years experience with falsework, formwork, pile templates, temporary works design.
+ Bachelor of Science in Construction or Engineering or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience.

THIS ROLE:
The Project Engineer is the leader responsible for all aspects of production & survey within our dredging projects including providing technical/operational expertise to the operations team. This includes the oversight of all surveys to both the operations team and the admin team. In addition, the Project Engineer administers project survey requirements from completion to final approval. The Project Engineer directs all dig strategy with the dredge management team. The Project Engineer is also responsible assisting the Project Manager in establishing, maintaining and performing all duties required to provide administrative support for dredging project jobsites.
**This role follows a 2 week on / 2 week off rotational schedule. This role will require travel to different projects sites and our corporate HQ/shipyard in Long Beach, CA**
WHAT YOULL DO:
Manage all survey assets
Develop dig strategy with project management
Analyze survey data to advise/plan daily dredge plan
Responsible for all technical/operational aspects of survey in the assigned project within the guidelines set by the Project Manager and customer
Generate daily survey related deliverables and discuss survey results with Project Manager and crew
Perform survey related calculations
Define, generate, and review project requirements documentation within defined scope
Develop work plans and hazard analysis to ensure safety and efficiency
Resolve of engineering, material and planning issues
Ensure implementation of improved engineering processes
Work with purchasing department on vessel specific purchases needed which includes sourcing from appropriate vendors and arranging the shipment
Track, analyze and generate reports of project progress and productivity
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory agencies
Calibrate, troubleshoot & maintain survey and vessel positioning systems
WHO YOU ARE:
Certifications and Other Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (any discipline) or Construction Management preferred.
1+ years dredging experience as a Project Engineer or similar role
USACE Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQM-C) Certification
RMS competency and ability to update daily reports for clients
OSHA 30
Primavera P6 Certification
Develop SOPs for survey and engineering team
Understanding of pump dynamics, velocities, pipeline routes, and booster placements.
Draft and update project schedules in conjunction with Quality Control Manager
Generates volumes for pay applications
Provides survey updates for client meetings and can act as lead for client meetings in absence of PM or QCM
Proficient in setting up survey equipment such as GPS positioning on tugs and dredge, base stations, and tide gauges with no assistance.
Able to calibrate a survey boat by manipulating settings, verifying equipment communication, perform bar checks, etc.
Ability to interpret project plans and specs to produce survey deliverables with minimal assistance.
Develops and maintains master volume sheets for projects recording dig/pay, volume remaining, shoaling, slopes, etc.
Plans out and coordinates all acceptance, progress, and third-party surveys.
Competent in drafting contract RFIs
Assists in scheduling & staffing of field engineers
Ability to fill in as Project Manager as needed
Handles auxiliary management duties when needed such as client interface, fueling appointments, delay troubleshooting, and subcontractor management.
Document and produce data/write ups for change orders, differing site conditions, REAs, etc.
Generates and submits pay applications in conjunction with Quality Control Manager
Set up and deploy new dredging and survey equipment
Analyze geotechnical data
Develop production estimates for bids
Acts as a leader and mentor to other Project Engineers & Field Engineers, providing training and coaching on engineering and survey duties
Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office desktop programs, especially MS Excel
Skilled with AutoCAD, Hypack and/or other Survey software
Ability to operate small marine vessels preferred
Technical understanding of construction and maintenance of marine vessels
Ability to read and understand technical manuals and drawings, ABS, USCG rules
Valid Drivers License with clean driving record required
Valid TWIC
Aptitudes
Experience in identifying and anticipating design/production work sequence conflicts required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills required
Demonstrated knowledge of scheduling, possess an ability to monitor progress to schedule and adhere to strict deadlines required
Willingness and ability to spend time onboard the vessel going up and down staircases and vertical ladders required
