The Sr. Director for Business Development position is responsible for strategically leading the planning and execution of all business development activities for AeroVironment, including the regional business development strategy, capture planning and capture execution for winning contracts in the region, while leading a team responsible for regional growth. The SD, BD works in partnership with his chain of command, fellow AeroVironment Business Development Leaders, AeroVironment's Product Line General Managers (PLGMs), and key functional groups within AeroVironment. The SD, BD is responsible for proactively creating aggressive strategic capture plans and then working across the AeroVironment team and throughout the highest levels of customer organizations, including national leaders, to shape these efforts into contract wins for AeroVironment. This pivotal leadership role is one of the highest senior level positions within AeroVironment's Business Development Team and as such, holds a key leadership function within the organization.
**Position Responsibilities**
+ Leads by example and inspires a team of AeroVironment employees charged with steadily growing product sales within the assigned region.
+ Builds trusted relationships with senior military and political leaders within the assigned international marketspace to grow strategic programs for AeroVironment to win. This role directly supports the company's long-term growth strategy by adding increasing numbers of key programs wins with multi-year revenues.
+ Acting in alignment with his manager's intent, takes proactive steps to identify strategic captures and leads the Business Development Team, regional representatives, and resellers, and closely works with regional global customers to help shape their requirements and proposals for AeroVironment's contract awards.
+ Advances brand recognition and thought leadership with senior regional leaders.
+ Helps identify new strategic opportunities for AeroVironment that might not be initially obvious in examining international tenders. Focuses on customers where security needs are the highest and the customers are adequately resourced for the advanced products from AeroVironment.
+ Works with select strategic business-to-business partnerships globally to promote major initiatives for AeroVironment and the partners to win, especially when offsets are required.
+ Institutes and manages a strategic review process for identifying, analyzing, and down-selecting major strategic key captures and helps create and manage focused efforts to execute these initiatives.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
**Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)**
+ Bachelor's degree is required in business, engineering or in a related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Job Description:
The Subscriber Solutions engineering director is a leadership and decision-making role that demands overarching responsibility for a multi-team engineering department responsible for software development, technology research, testing, and related engineering services in areas including RG/AP with WiFi mesh, enterprise routers and switches, and VoIP gateways. This role requires applying strong communication skills based on a mix of dynamic technical and business inputs. The product lines in scope are part of a larger solution, Intellifi, which integrates cloud-based network management systems with end-user wired or wireless networks to meet the needs of both end-users and service providers. This requires collaboration with the Software Platform Product Unit (PU) to ensure the best solutions and alignment are achieved.
Key Responsibilities:
* Establish a vision based on multiple business and technical inputs, including organizational and product unit (PU)- level strategy, customer requirements, and technology requirements, to inform ongoing planning and enable the engineering teams to execute deliverables.
* Collaborate with PU leadership, product management, sales, operations, and other stakeholders to maintain alignment with scope, priority, and scheduling options
* Ensuring the appropriate management and key roles structure are in place
* Understand and support team & individual needs, which may include financial budget, capex expenditures, tools, and workforce size
* Facilitate technical and design discussions with various groups of architects and senior developers to help drive the best solutions and ideas forward
* Help identify and bridge gaps within the ART, PU, or across company departments
* Establish and maintain relationships with our key external partners to negotiate the best technical, commercial, and scheduling terms
* Establish and maintain yearly and quarterly departmental budgets
* Provide product management & PU leadership with high-level feasibility and tradeoff assessments
* Manage the correct mix of engineering velocity across key investment areas
* Staying informed with related new and emerging technologies
* Ensure the system is applying best practices to meet solution quality and security requirements
* Engineering arm for the ART business owner team
* Shield the engineering organization from external noise and distraction
Requirements:
* Former engineering management experience
* Knowledge & experience with embedded system development/integration & related software architecture design
* Knowledge & experience with all the key data and telecommunications building blocks (equipment, protocols, management, physical technologies, etc.) required for the residential user, IT administrator, and service provider to establish and maintain public or private internet service
* Critical thinking skills and the ability to work well under pressure

A Product Owner II's main objective is to translate business problems and requirements into user stories that enable a development team to create the best solution to solve customer problems. A product owner II at Vertafore owns their backlog and prioritizes it to align with product strategy, business goals, and achieve project goals and objectives. The product owner II will provide clarity in complex projects, collaborating with internal, and at-times external stakeholders.

As a Product Owner II you will also prioritize the development backlog and work with Product Managers to plan and sequence the work appropriately. Core Requirements and Responsibilities:
Essential job functions included but are not limited to the following:
Translate business problems and requirements into prioritized backlog of user stories for the development teams to implement
Facilitate and lead cross-functional teams, primarily internal and, at times external, to get the clarity needed to document user stories to appropriate level of detail
Translate project goals/objectives/strategy to actionable work, prioritizing and sequencing the development work to achieve project goals and timelines
Partner with QA to define acceptance criteria and verify acceptance criteria are met
Research and respond to questions from designers, developers, and QA
When needed, work directly with customers, and conduct market research to clarify requirements and ensure solution will deliver value to end users
Clarify user stories to the appropriate level of detail where needed
Collaborate with product management, development, and user experience design staff to lead on time, successful scope definition and feature deployment

Qualifications:
2-4 years' professional experience, preferably working with B2B SaaS software
Previous experience as a product owner for a B2B SaaS software company
Real world experience working as part of an Agile software development team
Experience working within a cross functional organization and understanding the needs of multiple teams
Experience supporting customer needs and communicating
Experience communicating effectively with multiple parties, including customers
Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment within generally defined practices and select methods to obtain solutions

Located and working from an office location.
Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds.
Frequent repetitive hand and arm movements required to operate a computer.
