Position Description: Under general direction, this position is responsible for all aspects of the physical production of signs. Sign assembly includes preparing substrates and using the proper machines and techniques to construct products according to written instructions. Core Responsibilities: Follow a layout to place computer cut vinyl or full color graphic image(s) on a predetermined substrate or medium. Prepare substrates for vinyl application. This may include cutting, painting, laminating, cleaning and maintaining the substrates for vinyl application. Weed excess vinyl from computer cut images. Weeding techniques vary with size, type of vinyl and complexity of image. Operate and maintain printer(s). Perform quality assurance measures pre- and post-production by accurately reading and interpreting a Work Order and then proofing for errors or unacceptable standards. Perform finishing operations such as laminating, encapsulating, and/or mounting of printed pieces. Perform installations at customer locations or other off-site locations as necessary. Communicate with other employees and customers in a calm and professional manner. Report inventory levels and stock to be reordered to the center manager/production manager or franchisee. Help unload and store raw materials; clean and maintain storage areas. Work on multiple projects simultaneously. Perform routine machine maintenance and minor repairs when necessary. Serve as back up for graphic designer as necessary. Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes. Physical Demands: Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to lift 50 or more pounds. Flexibility to lean over a waist-high table and use back and forth hand motion to apply vinyl letters and graphics to a substrate. This role collaborates with Production, Service, Engineering, Quality Control, Warranty, and Sales to properly process work orders, track and evaluate failures, investigate details, and provide corrective recommendations. Code failures by product family, type, reason, origin, and other relevant metrics. Track and evaluate failure trends; report findings to help prevent future failures. Gather QC data monthly after coding failures and prepare reports. Relay QC findings monthly to service locations. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES -Comply with all company policies and procedures, including practicing safe work habits, maintaining organization, safe food defense and good manufacturing practices. -Set-up rails, print stations, folding, gluing, and/or die cut section on the equipment accurately in accordance with proper and safe setup techniques. -Inspect all tooling before and after run to ensure that any necessary repairs are made before the next run. -Ensure all bolts for cutting dies and all plates are in place and tightly secured. -Minimize material sheet, ink and adhesive waste. -Inspect anilox rolls for damage, before and after each run. -Monitor and check quality in accordance with the shop copy, including, but not limited to, loose liner, warp, dimensions, scoring, slotting, and print. -Properly operate machine to run efficiently and produce quality products. -Maximize the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed. -Turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs. Complete daily and weekly equipment clean-ups. Be proactive in the maintenance of equipment. This role collaborates with Production, Service, Engineering, Quality Control, Warranty, and Sales to properly process work orders, track and evaluate failures, investigate details, and provide corrective recommendations.
