In this role, you will assist the shift supervisor with production work flow activities to achieve efficient and smooth production operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Compiles and maintains records such as container/storage labeling, inventory transactions, in process production reports and status and location of materials. Examines materials and packaging being handled and verifies labeling and packaging for accuracy and checks for discrepancies such as damaged or unmarked materials and product. Completes weighing, counting, inventory reporting, packaging, and storage of finished product. Restocks material, boxes, and other supplies for people working in production. Identifies type and quantity of materials required and availability for production by reviewing production schedules, work orders and inventory reports while also communicating with supervisor. Accurately computes amount of material required to complete job orders. Timely locates and distributes materials to specified production areas to avoid any production interuption. Safely operates the forklift to various work and storage areas in the delivery and storage of materials, packaging, and finished goods. Cleans and maintains work area and equipment used (such as hoppers and dryers) and assists in maintaining organization throughout the production areas. Assists with relieving machine operators for breaks. Assists with the communication and monitoring of part quality specifications. Participates in the training and development of machine operators. Actively assists in maintaining production goals and ISO expectations. Assists with the set up and cleaning of grinders, dryers, loaders, and additive feeders. Assits with dismantling set up and puts equipment and toold in their proper storage area. Occasionally opens containers/ barrels/gaylords and accurately mixes additives with the raw materials in blender or tumbler according to specifications. Offers suggestions for productivity improvement and work flow processes.

The Production Assistant is responsible for receiving, inspecting, and processing raw colostrum upon its arrival at the Brookings plant. This position adheres to a production schedule as instructed and ensures a steady flow of product is maintained at all times. Maintaining a clean and safe work environment is a primary responsibility for the Production Assistant. Essential Functions * Receive raw colostrum shipments into the facility. * Conduct visual inspections of incoming trucks to ensure they are in appropriate condition for the transportation of raw colostrum. Confirm temperature readings are within required specifications upon arrival. * Unload colostrum into freezer for temporary storage, taking care to rotate product such that older product is used first. * Stage colostrum pails for thawing to ensure readiness for next day's batch. * Conduct a visual and olfactory quality inspection of thawed, incoming raw colostrum and identify/reject containers that are assessed to be substandard. * Pour colostrum into vat for heating and pooling of product. * Clean, dry, and prepare empty pails and lids for shipment back to field employees. * Take steps to ensure product loss/waste is at a minimum. * Operate forklift to move product within the plant. * Maintain a clean working environment at all times. * Promote and comply with all safety standards of Sterling Technology to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. * Performs other duties as assigned, such as bottling and labeling when needed.
