Essential Functions & Responsibilities
* Must learn the safe and proper operation of equipment.
* Perform set-up, start-up and changeover procedures for the equipment as needed.
* Assist in troubleshooting issues with line performance as it relates to equipment operation.
* Maintain downtime records during line operation.
* Responsible for conducting and documenting quality checks.
* Responsible for monitoring and communicating any process or product abnormalities to your Supervisor or Lead.
* Perform sanitation duties on production equipment as needed.
* Proper handling and usage of chemicals.
* Must have the ability to follow written instructions and manuals.
* Must handle Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's).
* Support Plant Quality Systems.
* Responsible to follow FSQ requirements such as GMP's and other daily/job specific duties to support QRMP.
* Perform all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Team Leader

Informs supervisor/lead of machine problems and fills out maintenance work requests (MRO).
Informs supervisor/lead if machines are not capable of running at standard.
Cleans machines and work areas of material, caps, oil, etc., clean filters, scheduled sanitation duties.
Fills and empties color and virgin hoppers.
Segregates, inspects and sorts scrap material.
Relieves Production Operators, Mold Techs during breaks.
Backup Production Operators and Mold Techs for other shifts; Covers for absences/vacations on other shifts on a volunteer basis.
Follows all GMP guidelines.

What you'll do
The Production Technician Trainee for our chemical manufacturing site is responsible for the production of quality, formulated products in a safe and efficient manner. They use knowledge of products, raw materials, and operating procedures to control equipment that processes substances into specified products.
Key Tasks:
Responsible for the safe operation of chemical processing equipment;
Read and understand Standard Operating Procedures (SOP);
Stages raw and finished materials;
Takes required samples during production process;
Decontaminates equipment and piping for maintenance or disposal;
Utilizes Personal Protective Equipment Matrix;
Maintains inventories of disposable, production, and safety related materials;
Recognizes material compatibilities;
Conducts charging and filling operations;
Maintains plant Hazard Communication labeling program;
Performs general housekeeping duties throughout the unit;
Assists in product changeover activities;
Responsible for unit operations and safety equipment. Recognizes and operates basic process elements;
Responsible for handling waste and other contaminated trash per SOP, following RCRA hazardous waste regulations, waste determinations, waste codes, and immediately communicates discovery of spills and leaks;
Responsible for labeling, inspection, and recordkeeping requirements to accumulate waste in satellite accumulation areas, containers, and tanks;
Operates forklifts;
Operates shuttle wagon and radio communication during rail movement operations.
About You:
High School Diploma or GED with at least that level in reading comprehension, writing, and math;.
Basic knowledge and ability to use information technology systems and applications;
Personal focus on safety, teamwork, and adaptability;
Strong written and verbal communication skills;
Ability to give and receive feedback in a professional manner;
Able to work in a self-directed, diverse team environment to achieve production goals;
Ability to use or learn to use control/display screens, process pumps and equipment, and various hand tools;
Ability to use various forms of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE;)
Willingness to climb and the ability to perform elevated work utilizing portable ladders and fall protection equipment within the current ANSI duty rating of 375 lbs.
Availability to work rotating shifts including overtime hours and weekends as scheduled.
Preferred Skills:
Manufacturing operation, Military experience, or similar experience;
Forklift operation;
Ability to use various hand tools;
Ability to troubleshoot and complete mechanical repairs or preventive maintenance on equipment;

You'll start out earning $18.00/hour and if you work 2nd or 3rd shift, you'll make $19.25/hour. And if you work a weekend shift, you make $22.25/hr. on Saturday and $25.25/hr. on Sunday!

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Operate various separating, drying, and/or bagging equipment.
Operate equipment and Dryers to the require efficiency.
Monitor equipment and process to accomplish process.
Follow production standard operating procedures (SOP's) as instructed.
Respond to process upsets and alarms appropriately.
Assures equipment and work area is clean after each shift.
Responsible for TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) in appropriate areas.
Participate in monthly training sessions for Safety, Quality & Food Defense.
Maintain safety as top priority in accordance with all company safety rules and regulations.
Participate in Lean Manufacturing Training and partake in Internal Audits.
As trained, be aware of and responsible for their role in Darling's food safety program.
SHIFTS are either 4pm-Midnight, or Midnight-8am
All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or G.E.D. (technical school degree is desirable).
Weekend work is required (generous pay differential provided for weekend work).
Manufacturing, industrial, or agricultural experience preferred.
Preferred Experience:
1-3 years industrial experience a plus.
Some knowledge of mechanical and process equipment.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Good mechanical aptitude and skilled in safe operating of equipment.
Ability to deal with minor problems involving equipment or various situations.
Works well with others in a team environment.
