Team or Function Overview
This position will be on the Mt. Vernon, Indiana plant operations team, located about 20 miles west of Evansville. This GAF site was founded in 1973 and produces a wide variety of asphaltic shingles and rolled roofing materials.
Summary
The Production Operator position offers an hourly rate of $30.44 per hour and a 12-hour rotating shift schedule (2-2-3). The Production Operator will support the production of high-quality roofing materials through accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency of manufacturing processes to include machine operation, quality verification, packaging, housekeeping & forklift operation.
Essential Duties
* Responsible for safe operation of equipment; preventing damage to equipment and preventing injuries
* Participates fully as a member of the crew during downtime and start-up, product changes, operational problems, and clean up.
* Assists in sheet breaks, threading machine and product changes.
* Will assist in clearing machine jams to keep product moving
* Responsible for basic maintenance, troubleshooting, and cleaning of assigned equipment
* Completes product testing in accordance with product specification and records data on applicable sheets or computer systems. Keeps the supervisor informed of variations in the production process at all times.
* Maintains work area in neat and orderly condition per housekeeping procedures for the department
* Operates forklift in a safe and efficient manner
* Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or GED, preferred but not required
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Industrial experience of at least three years preferred, but not required
Will operate and maintain equipment, move material, maintain housekeeping and safety standards.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate all tire line, balancing, sequencing (location specific), material handling and other line positions as required.
Off load deliveries of tires, wheels and other raw materials.
Inspect tires, wheels, other parts and finished assemblies according to inspection standards and frequencies prescribed.
Operate material handling, sequencing, and finished assembly loading systems.
Complete all working documentation, records, reports, etc. as requested.
Perform trouble shooting, problem solving and countermeasure activities as necessary.
Keep the work environment safe and clean at all times.
Other duties as assigned.
