Position Overview:
The Production Supervisor at Stella-Jones in Sheridan is responsible for leading and developing production teams while ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality operations. This role emphasizes accountability, continuous improvement, and team-level problem solving, using data and systems to drive performance. By focusing on coaching, resource allocation, and process optimization, the Supervisor plays a key role in strengthening daily operations and supporting a culture of safety, quality, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, Manage, and Hold Accountable (LMA):
Direct and supervise production leads and workers, ensuring safe and efficient plant operations.

Manage Day-to-Day Production Operations:

Essential Functions/ Responsibilities:
Responsible to manage, lead and supervise a team to achieve the organizational objectives.
Be the area owner and accountable for the area / department performance metrics such as safety, quality, delivery, cost, ROCK (Remove, Organize, Clean, Keep), etc.
Ensure company policies are clearly communicated with the production team. Ensure EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) and quality regulatory requirement compliance.
Provide proper training to the associates and ensure they are certified to perform their job with the tools provided according to the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) / WI (Work Instruction).
Conduct regular 1:1 and weekly communication meetings with associates to provide/receive updates, feedback, and discuss development and calibration of expectations.
Ensure a safe working environment for associates with enforcement of PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) compliance and LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) application.
Ensure product is produced according to the print in order to meet the industry standards and customer expectations for quality.
Proactively initiate quality improvements to ensure OD and PPM meet the corporate target.
Timely containment and investigation of quality issues (together with MQS/technician etc.) in order to minimize the cost impact and prevent escape to customer.
Responsible to support and ensure OSS scheduling of orders by due date and batching opportunity; confirm material availability to deliver orders on time to customers.
Work with OSS to manage the expedite system, rescheduling codes and accurate dates.
Manage machine capacity and people capacity (this includes associate work schedules, OT, time off, vacations etc.) with alignment to order scheduling.
Responsible for overall cost performance in your cost center. Manage overtime according to business requirements, drive scrap and productivity improvements to reduce cost.
Communicate to Techs on priority and engage in troubleshooting defective tooling that may cause efficiency or quality concerns.
Walk the processes frequently to understand any quality concerns or bottlenecks, and address with the team in a timely manner.
Monitor and review metrics regularly; responsible to initiate and drive continuous improvement.
Stop the production of all non-conforming products.

Required Experience:
Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Manufacturing, Operations, or Engineering related function.

Demonstrated problem solving ability, investigation skills and detail orientation. Understanding of LEAN manufacturing concepts and Six Sigma manufacturing applications.
Proven track record of developing and implementing process improvements.
Strong in data analysis and is data driven.
Experience with Process knowledge for related area.
Must possess good communication skills - written & verbal.
Must be able to use Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access). Familiar with utilizing Samtec systems for Production and Operations.
Team player and must be able to work with multiple groups of people (Operators, Floor Managers, Engineers, etc.)
Must be able to sit/stand for at least 90 consecutive minutes, and not suffer from any sensory deprivation and/or paralysis of the limbs.
Lifting Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist.
Hazards and Atmospheric Conditions: Must be willing to adhere to department safety rules and regulations. May be exposed to noise (required to wear protective gear). May be exposed to Hazardous Materials & Chemicals (required to wear safety glasses and other protective gear).
Preferred Education:
High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent is preferred; not mandatory.

The Role:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for managing all daily production activities for assigned shift or area with the intent to efficiently create quality and food safe products, in a safe, and respectful work environment. Work Environment:
Oregon Ice Cream contains office, manufacturing and outdoor workspaces where this position is required to access and work. This position requires frequent use of a computer and related hardware and frequent walking and standing in and around the facility. A person must be able to walk, sit, stand, bend, twist and climb stairs; see, hear and talk; use hands to type, handle or feel tools or controls; use hands and arms to reach. Lifting/moving up to 30lbs is also required; occasional lifting/transferring of objects may be required with assistance up to 75 lbs. This position also requires a person to handle environments of varied temperatures and with various food allergens present; and be comfortable at various heights.
In addition, this position requires a person to travel occasionally to various worksites including OIC locations, vendor or training sites and various other venues.
QUALIFIED CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
· Minimum two years supervisory or leadership experience in food manufacturing or similar environment; ice cream experience highly preferred
· Bachelor's degree in business, food science or related field preferred; high school diploma (or equivalent) plus leadership training or other related experience required
· Familiarity with GMPs, safe work environment practices; SQF knowledge preferred
· Experience in Microsoft Office; proven ability to learn and use various systems effectively; experience with Microsoft NAV, Redzone, and/or Alchemy preferred
· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate (verbal/writing) effectively at all levels and with all customers, internally and externally
