Responsibilities:
Responsible for the SHE performance of the Manufacturing department within Bachman Services. This includes Performance in these areas: safety, environmental, process safety management, industrial hygiene, occupational health, and emergency management.
Responsible for ensuring manufacturing complies with site hazard management strategy to maintain basis of safety for processes on site, and avoidance of major accidents
Ensures manufacturing complies with site programs and processes that are in place to comply with all relevant SHE standards (Innospec, Government Regulations)
Achieve the effective promotion of a Responsible Care culture in manufacturing; reinforce the need for individual responsibility and line management accountability.
Responsible for the safe and effective operation of manufacturing, managing site production, output, quality and costs.
Involvement in the strategic planning, logistics and development of the Bachman businesses and including new business opportunities
Overall responsibility for the safe and efficient execution of maintenance within the various plant areas. Have a high knowledge of the various maintenance strategies in achieving Innospec's manufacturing vision.
Responsible for all aspects of managing all Manufacturing Employees, including employee training and development.
Act as principal manufacturing contact with external authorities.
Participate in site operations management.
Ensure company and site policies are implemented within manufacturing.
Contribute to the development and implementation of site management systems: Deliver continuous improvement across the maintenance arena. Deliver Quality in all department activities.
Provide the leadership necessary to implement dynamic change within the Manufacturing function: Ensure organization structure supports the business needs and is aligned to the company vision. The Production Supervisor has overall responsibility for the safety, quality and production performance of their shift. They are a member of the Leadership Team and must reflect the desired behavior in attendance, attitude, and performance. They will train and enforce company policies and procedures, complete associate qualifications, coach associates, and administer disciplinary actions if warranted. Must possess a willingness to assist with troubleshooting as well as operating production equipment through relief periods if necessary.
Responsibilities:
Ensure Plant Safety
The supervisor is responsible for ensuring associates receive their Equipment Specific LOTO training before an associate is qualified perform LOTO on any equipment. The LOTO training cannot be delegated to anyone other than the area supervisor.
The supervisor will conduct hourly travel paths to inspect and monitor the process continuously ensuring company expectations are met including but not limited to food safety, plant safety, quality, productivity, and cleanliness, documentation, key performance indicators (kpi listed below), and more.
The Production Supervisor collaborates with Plant Safety to ensure all associates understand and adhere to the company's safety programs, procedures and guidelines. The supervisor is responsible for safety in his or her department. The supervisor will facilitate and assist in conducting of the monthly plant safety meetings for their respective departments. He/she is required to submit and follow up on any and all suggestions or concerns regarding plant safety.
The supervisor will conduct weekly Safety Audits on at least 4 associates per week.
The supervisor will conduct weekly Forklift Safety Audits on at least 2 forklift drivers per week.
The supervisor will conduct daily 5-minute safety talks with his/her department.
The supervisor will conduct ladder safety audits as needed.
Ensure Food Safety and Quality
The Production Supervisor collaborates with Food Safety to ensure all associates understand and adhere to the company's food safety programs, procedures and guidelines. The supervisor is responsible for food safety in his or her department. The supervisor will facilitate and assist in conducting of the monthly food safety meetings for their respective departments. He/she is required to submit and follow up on any and all suggestions or concerns regarding food safety.
The Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the proper food safety / quality paperwork is staged in the proper areas, and that all HACCP Critical Control Points and Process Controls are properly monitored and documented in real time in accordance with the HACCP plan. When process deviations occur, the Supervisor is also responsible for carrying out and documenting in good detail and real time any corrective and preventative action steps that is consistent with the HACCP plan. The supervisor will acquire HACCP and supportive documentation, temperature probes, metal detection sensitivity test equipment, and sharps from their respective file or central locations and issue them to the affected associates. You may be required to check-in/out by signing and accounting for each specific piece of equipment. Date and sign all paperwork in the appropriate and provided spaces for each piece of documentation. The Supervisor is responsible for the accuracy and integrity of all documentation in his/her respective department during his/her respective work shift.
The supervisor will immediately notify QA of any quality or food safety related issues.
Ensure Adherence to Customer Specifications
The Production Supervisor verifies that all equipment is properly set up, assembled, and in working condition for the scheduled production shift and costumer specifications. The supervisor may be required to complete documentation of such verifications.
Ensure all equipment set-up, associate processes, and area procedures are operating fully within the specifications of the customer. The supervisor must actively manage his/her department in manner that assures specifications are being met each day.
Manage rework, inedible, packaging waste, piece counts, yields, etc., by measuring on supportive documentation at the pre-scribed rates. Identify outliers as they happen and provide corrective actions in a timely manner. Report any deviations to the superintendent and QA when necessary.
Train and Develop associates
The supervisor is responsible for managing depth, employee training files, and documentation in his or her department. Training will be managed strictly and efficiently with all training documentation completed and submitted to the superintendent or training manager for final review and placement in the associate's personnel folder. Training files and job descriptions will be updated and reviewed with the qualified associates yearly.
The Supervisor will staff their production department with enough trained and qualified associates to ensure that scheduled shift starts on time and operates safely and efficiently.
