Under the direction of the Production Manager-New Builds, the incumbent is responsible for building fluid delivery systems for lube vans, liquid bulk tank trucks and trailers, which includes both fabricating and assembling components used in the building process. Repairs, modifies, and upgrades rail cars. Rebuilds car components: bolsters, side framers, hitch heads, and box car doors Welds, fabricates, and uses torch and carbon arc to cut. Performs mechanical labor.
Repairs and maintains railcars, according to blueprints and other specifications, production machinery, and other equipment using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments: Inspects machines and equipment visually, by touch, special knowledge, and training to locate causes of trouble Measures, cuts, and threads pipes, and replaces airlines using hand tools.
