    Maintenance Packaging Technician Position Type: Regular - Full-Time About the role. Our Maintenance Technicians perform maintenance procedures to all plant equipment including lubrication, line inspections, and preventative maintenance procedures from a checklist. Minor mechanical adjustments and equipment/part replacement. Our plant operates 24/7, Maintenance Techs works 12 hours, rotating schedules from 6pm to 6am. Accountabilities: Utilizing SAP computer maintenance system. Report all equipment failures to appropriate supervisors in writing and verbally. Prepare, read, write, and understand reports and correspondence. Strictly adhere to company and plant policies concerning safety, performing proper lock-out/tag-out procedures, using proper lifting technique, wearing proper protective equipment related to duties. Adhere to all company and plant policies related to GMP's. Perform maintenance using hand tools, power tools, and fabricating equipment. Perform general lubrication of bearings, chains, gearboxes, etc. Perform general building maintenance duties including miscellaneous plumbing, painting and repairs. Perform preventative maintenance per standard procedures. Perform basic electrical troubleshooting, with the use of appropriate electrical measuring instruments and electrical schematics. Perform basic electronic troubleshooting of HMI equipment Perform basic hydraulic troubleshooting, including aggressive leak control, piping selection, and valve and motor operations. Perform basic pneumatic troubleshooting, including aggressive leak control, and appropriate usage of compressed air versus low-pressure air. Perform basic fabrication procedures including braking and shearing. Perform basic machining procedures including lathe set-up and milling machine set-up. Perform rebuild of Hayssen Jaws Perform spanning of scale procedure to Yamato and Ishida scaled Perform basic fabrication Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent combination of education and related experience Certification and/or Associate Degree in Mechanical field highly preferred. Employee must frequently lift, push, and pull up to 35 lbs. Must be able to wear and follow GMP (Smock, gloves, hairnet, sleeves, waterproof suit, ear plugs, protective toe shoes, and goggles - when needed. Skills: Must have the ability to read and interpret company policy and procedure, safety rules, equipment operation, and maintenance instructions. Must have the ability to prepare and write routine reports and correspondence. Must demonstrate prior knowledge of refrigeration, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and troubleshooting techniques. Learn and operate DCS (computer control system) for the plant. Follow Standard Operating Procedures for plant start-up, shut down, cleaning and batching. Stay within operating parameters set by Plant/Production Manager and notify management of any production problems. Keep accurate and timely logs. Collect samples and do the necessary tests to ensure consistent and quality product and record results. Monitor and make adjustments on the (DCS) computer according to the results of the samples and to keep within parameters and record changes. Keep facility, control room, and break room clean including mopping and hosing down plant floors - tour ready conditions. Keep operators, coming on shift, briefed on what has happened and what is supposed to be done during the next shift. Work closely with maintenance and inform them of any mechanical problems. Communicate with the Laboratory and learn testing procedures including but not limited to yeast counts, microwave analyzer, HPLC, and the GC. RESPONSIBILITIES: Live and demonstrate the Heartwell Renewables core values Must be able to visually monitor numerous computer screens and control points in a control room environment when assigned (including for extended periods of time) Work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule (including nights, holidays, and weekends) Adhere to all company safety policies and requirements Must be available for on-call/relief duties Learn refining process operations and qualify on process jobs Demonstrate ability to understand and operate refining process operations, product tank, and chemical unloading. Duties include, but are not limited to, making periodic rounds per shift, monitoring the tank levels and transfers, tank gauging, collecting process and chemical samples, monitoring the units, equipment decontamination, equipment isolation (LOTO), assistance in equipment maintenance and writing work permits Opening and closing manual valves and making needed process adjustments Detect and respond to process upsets and emergency situations and problems under direct supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff Complete and pass annual audiometric and respiratory fit test Maintain a clean work area Other duties as assigned Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: At least 18 years of age Valid driver's license Must have a High School Diploma or GED Strong work ethic including but not limited to strong communication skills, hardworking, dedicated and punctual. Willingness to perform incipient fire response and other emergency response activities as trained Willingness to work a rotating shift schedule and overtime as required by business needs Be fit to perform the essential functions of the job. Be comfortable working in an industrial work environment that may include loud areas around rotating equipment/operating equipment/heavy equipment, extreme temperatures, dust, work at heights, entry into confined spaces, and other potential chemical/atmospheric hazards that require use of appropriate PPE Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time, lift minimum 40 lbs., climb ladders, stairs and work from elevated platforms. Adhere to a strict Drug and Alcohol policy Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English, including job specific technical language, sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. Basic math, reading, writing, and verbal skills along with basic computer skills Other minimum qualifications may apply PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCES: Relevant education and/or training such as: vocational technical training curriculum in petrochemical/manufacturing or related field Waste water license DCS operation experience (DeltaV, iFix, Control Logix, SCADA, other HMI based programs) Instrumentation knowledge and experience Experience working in a process operational/maintenance craft area, stable work experience in an agricultural, industrial or commercial industry Experience with operations in Renewable/Bio Diesel, Steam Reformation, Vegetable Oil Refining, Oil and Gas Industry, Wastewater Treatment, Boiler operations, Utility operations, Hydro Processing and or a PSM regulated facility Heartwell Renewables is an equal opportunity employer.
