Primary Responsibilities
Make accurate setups making sure Tombstones and/or fixtures are clean and free of burrs etc., checking cutting tools for proper gage length and diameter, making sure tools are not dull or chipped.
Operate milling machines, CNC machines, routing machines, lathes, drill presses, forming rolls and other shop equipment including all types of hand tools. Uses Dial and/or Vernier calipers, surface gauges, micrometers and other instruments to assure precision workmanship.
Read and interpret part and tool drawings and be able to translate this drawing into a machined part.
Calculate optimum feed and speed rates to obtain maximum productivity and quality.
Check for proper machine alignment (spindle, fixture, tram holes etc.) and perform proofing/first article runs.
Obtain a good working knowledge of the machine code (G codes, M codes, etc.) and the ability to use MDI to manipulate the machine tool during set-up and other manual machining operations.
Read, interpret and follow Setup Sheets, Tooling Work Instruction Sheets, and Dimensional aids as given by CNC Programmer, Process Engineer, or Supervisor.
Use micrometers (inside, outside and depth), calipers, dial indicators, scales, and various gauges for verification of dimensional quality work produced.
Handle/ Clean/ Maintain Tooling and Fixturing in a manner that will protect the quality and longevity of the tools.
Inspect Glass, Units and/or Tooling after machining to ensure compliance with all quality requirements.
Maintain proper housekeeping and safety procedures for CNC machining, reporting any potential machine or safety problems to Supervisor or Maintenance immediately.
Follow all plant general and safety rules, stays alert at all times to both general and specific hazards, makes proper and appropriate use of safety equipment and works in a. manner to ensure the safety of self and others.
Perform TPM and 5S requirements on a daily basis.
Attend training sessions as designated by supervision.
Perform other related duties as directed by supervision.
