JOB TITLE: Router Operator
REPORTS TO: Superintendent/Engineer
SUMMARY
Operation of CNC 5-Axis router to cut complex shapes used to support the installation of hull treatment and non-metallic coatings on United States Navy nuclear-powered submarines. Position requires a willingness to learn, dependability, and the ability to think critically.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standards.
Ability to use manual and power tools.
Read and interpret documents as necessary, such as operating and maintenance manuals, safety rules and regulations, procedure manuals, etc.
Program and oversee CNC 5-Axis router operation, running calibration test, and inspecting machinery for repair needs.
May prepare molds and templates for fabrication of hull treatment materials.
Maintain a clean work environment where coatings work is being performed.
Demonstrate comprehension of complex shapes.
Mixing of different types of solvent and adhesive materials.
Understanding fairness and flushness with regards to surface preparation.
Follow all company rules and policies.
Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task.
May be required to perform additional duties as deemed necessary by the Superintendent/Engineer.
Must be willing to comply with clean shaven standards needed to wear half/full face respirator.
Must be able to pass a thorough background investigation to obtain access into a shipyard environment.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Proficiency in programing, troubleshooting, and operating CNC milling equipment.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Inventor, Fusion 360, etc.

Must be able to work cooperatively and productively with other employees and shipyard personnel.
Must be able identify and measure material.
Strong math skills for inputting specific dimensions and figures into the machinery.
Ability to analyze the information provided on drawings or other explanatory documents to make sure the final product matches the sketch.
Strong computer skills as the 5-Axis router uses computer software to control machinery.
Problem-solving skills to detect issues in the creation process and find solutions to ensure the machinery creates the product provided in the sketch.
Must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, weight, volume, and density.
Must be able to carry out instructions furnished in oral, written, or diagram form.
Must be able to problem solve, organize, and prioritize work.
Must be able to perform required duties efficiently and independently.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Regularly exposed to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery, confined spaces, precarious places, proximity to other employees. To avoid injury, safety clothing is required along with safety devices to protect eyes, mouth, or hearing.

Communicate activities (and changeovers) and any changes made on the line to coworkers and other necessary departments
Ensure all specifications are being followed

Track downtime

Prepare for next shift by communicating all necessary information, such as changes or issues
Attend and participate in daily production meetings, weekly team meetings, and any other plant meetings as needed
Meet with coworkers to discuss production issues and workflow
Abide by all OSHA regulations and ensure work areas are safe and free of safety violations; immediately report safety concerns and hazards or unsafe acts to supervisor or manager

* Maintain a consistent and constant product (peanut) flow from the storage bins to the jar filler or bulk station

* Run the hot oil flush system for product clean out and sanitation

* Record lot numbers of each ingredient used in production
* Record any downtime, length of time and explanation on downtime report sheets
* Follow the FIFO (first in first out) procedure for ingredients usage.
* Maintain adequate levels of each ingredient being used. Verify the correct rates and record on the ingredient Feed Rate Form. Turn paperwork into management
* Maintain a clean and sanitary work area during each shift by sweeping & mopping the ingredient floor, wipping hoppers, sweeping platform deck, and emptying trash cans.

Qualifications & Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required
Must have previous production line, packaging line, or experience in a manufacturing environment; consumer packaged goods (CPG) or food and beverage environment preferred
Must be able to multi-task, troubleshoot, and diagnose problems; must be detail oriented
Must be a good communicator with strong writing skills
Must be reliable, possess a strong work ethic, and able to work independently, as well as partner and assist others as needed
Basic computer skills required; basic math ability required
Requires shift work with flexibility in hours worked
Must demonstrate dependability and accountability and promote teamwork

The Material Prep Machine Operator sets up and operates material prep machines, such as saws, iron-worker, shear, press brake, grinders, NC torch tables, plasma torches, lathe, knee mill, radial arm drill and beveling operations with minimal supervision. 2nd shift hours are 3:00 pm - 1:30 AM.
Responsibilities
* Sets up and operates material prep machines.
* Utilizes charts and table for calculations related to part setup and tooling.
* Reads various machinist measuring tools and gauges, such as machinist scales, micrometers and calipers.
* Operates overhead cranes as required.
* Responsible for keeping machines and surrounding area clean and tools stored in their designated places.
* Recognizes when machinery is not properly adjusted and makes adjustments as required.
* Locates tools, parts and materials for upcoming production.
* Interprets and performs minor program edits as required in order to produce a quality product.
* Accurately perform inventory audits.
Competencies
* High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals including the metric system.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
* Demonstrated knowledge of shop mathematics and speed/feeds for metal cutting will be required.
* This position is performed on three (3) shifts.
* Available to work weekends and overtime.
