The Production Operation Technician, based on process know-how, knowledge, and trouble shooting skills, carries out independently, safely and responsibly all operations required to complete production requirements using all written procedures and verbal instructions. This individual may be involved with the generation, collection, storage, and preparation of shipments of hazardous materials. Pick and stage all necessary raw materials prior to beginning batch via forklift or pallet jack. Stage, fill, and label drums, totes, or pales for finished products from reactors or storage vessels following Standard Operator Procedures (SOPs). Print, complete, and scan necessary packaging and shipping documents as required. Unload and sample raw materials from tank trucks or rail cars. Load finished materials onto a tank truck Complete all tasks wearing the proper PPE in accordance with site policies Support and comply with all company safety, health, environmental, and quality programs and policies and be directly responsible for managing safety and health performance Perform other duties as required and directed by Production Manager, Production Supervisor or other senior operators. Follows batch instructions on BPR or deviation to meet desired specification via use of reactors, blenders, mixers, fitzmill, metal detector, sifter, roller compactor, rotary press, oscillating granulator, tote tumbler, lift truck, hand jack and other equipment. Documents and updates mix tickets and log book, ensuring that all information is written truthfully and legibly. Will be responsible for operation of manufacturing machinery utilized in a high quality medical device manufacturing environment. Duties * Set-up and operate assembly equipment using prescribed methods and training to manufacture parts within acceptable tolerances and standards. * Replace raw materials as required during set up process and during continuous runs of production lots. * Continuous monitoring of assemble equipment while making in-process adjustments to ensure product conforms to specification. * Use required measuring instruments and gages or scales to check and ensure products meet specifications * Perform prescribed cleaning of equipment * Perform routine general maintenance when scheduled * Compliance with STERIS Quality System policies and procedures pertaining to manufacturing processes. * Communicate clearly with personnel and assigned work group. * Perform work to meet all required quality specifications. * Maintain and follow all safety standards. Duties - cont'd Education Degree * High School Diploma or GED Required Experience Minimum 3 years experience working with machinery in a manufacturing environment, preferred Preferred Experience Skills * Must be able to use measuring instruments, gages, and scales. * Must demonstrate ability to manufacture products according to the procedures and drawings while maintaining quality systems and standards. * Must be mechanically inclined and be able to think quickly in order to make in-process adjustments in a timely manner. * Must have good communication skills. * Must be able to work in a team environment * Must have ability to stand for long periods of time. * Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds without assistance. Pay range for this opportunity is $19.11 - $23.60.This position is eligible for bonus participation. Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Responsible for a part of the process of tearing down or reassembling a received part from a transmission or torque converter and ensuring that proper labeling, packaging, tagging, and gauging is done on all product and that product is defect free before final shipment. Supervisory Responsibilities: None. Duties/Responsibilities: Work in one or many parts of the production process including disassembly or reassembly of transmission unit; may also include painting, cleaning, rework, preparation work, and testing Understand and follow work instructions to complete the process assigned Complete work in a timely and efficient manner May use hand tools such as wrenches to adjust seals or other parts Communicates with supervisor when in need of parts Saves and tags parts to identify material properly Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor Keeps plant area neat and clean Understands, updates their knowledge of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc. Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner Reports any safety issues immediately to management Required Skills/Abilities: May follow detailed work instructions and may need to work with very small parts Must be willing to be placed to work in any part of the production process including but not limited to disassembly, assembly, cleaning, painting, moving materials, rework, preparation work, and testing Ability to follow English work instructions, generally including pictures, to correctly complete their step in the production process in assembly or disassemble of the part or any other production process Ability to use hand tools such as wrenches Accepts direction from others and assumes responsibility Asks questions when in doubt about their work or work instructions Demonstrates an open mindset and willing to assume new assignments and additional duties as needed Overall positive attitude and team player Must be able to maintain regular in-person attendance Must be willing to participate in interview testing process where the applicant may lift automotive parts or follow work instructions to assemble an automotive part Preferred Education/Experience: Experience as a direct employee in a manufacturing site or in an automotive environment High school degree or equivalent Technical or mechanical ability/know how (ex. Work on personal car, experience working in an auto shop, parts store, etc.) Physical Requirements: MUST have ability to frequently lift and move heavy automotive parts that weight up to 45 lbs. Must have ability to work in a very physical and likely repetitive job: lifting, moving, and standing during their entire shift May need to infrequently lift parts that weigh up to 70 lbs. pounds. Must be willing to work around or with solvents, cleaning chemicals, and oily parts This is a non-exempt, full-time position.
