Maximizing salary potential can be a dicey game when you are just starting out. Don't forget that things have value that are sometimes not based in salary. I'll explain...Let's say you work at a dinner theatre, and you make 550 a week. That's not a bad start, some people would want more. You could ask for more money, or you could do some research and make sure it's a comparable salary to other theatres of similar sizes. What you could look into is if that same dinner theatre would let you eat for free at the venue, while on contract. Free food is a huge perk, especially when food prices are soaring. Another thing to keep in mind about salary, is room and board. Maybe the company cannot afford to pay you more, but they can house you for free so you don't have to worry about rent for awhile. While these are small examples. Other things to keep in mind is some theatre companies have part time box office help they might need, or seasonal/stipend education events that are needing performers. Somethings thinking outside of the box might help offset what salary potential a company offers.
