    The Production Superintendent supervises and directs plant operations in the most efficient manner to produce quality products. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. Other job-related duties may be assigned. Supervises and directs all production department personnel in the effective and economic utilization of the plant's manufacturing facilities to produce products to the company and customer's specifications according to production schedules. Recommends alternations and replacement of equipment as they become either obsolete, or in need of alternation or re-design, and makes improvement as necessary to effectively meet production schedules and quality standards. Interviews, selects and hires qualified personnel for production. Develops and controls those items of expense budgets associated with the operation of the production department and initiates cost reduction as appropriate Maintains a high level of standards for safety, housekeeping and environmental goals commensurate with Company policies and practices as they relate to both corporate and community needs. Serves as technical advisor to the Plant Manager and maintains cooperation with other departments and personnel with the plant. Develops and maintains satisfactory employee relations including the exercising of necessary discipline procedure in accordance with and cooperation with industrial relations practices and policies. Helps to develop and maintain reporting of production priorities needed to effectively measure department's activities and in corporation with the plant's service departments. Maintains good community relationships as they relate to assigned employees and the plant's effectiveness in reaching its objectives. Maintains records and inventories to effectively meet downtime goals but within the plants budgets and good investment practices. Proposes and performs development runs and makes recommendations of products that needs to meet approved changes in the company's product line. Cooperates with service departments in changing of plants methods and procedures in the utilization of employees, and material that will effectively improve the plant's operation. Is responsible for the effective training of employees and administering performance evaluations. Performs other job-related assignments as directed by the Plant Manager. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervision is exercised over Production employees, both directly or indirectly through subordinate supervisors. Works under Company policies and procedures on a day-to-day basis with limited supervision. Ability to speak effectively before groups. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to identify trends and develop action plans to address issues. He must be able to effectively direct the work of the assigned crew, complete the job in accordance with proper trade practices and within the limitations, estimates, and specifications governing specific jobs. He must be knowledgeable of and support the Division 7 Roofing policies and work rules. Duties Include: * Serves as the Division 7 Roofing on-site management representative responsible for all phases of completion of specifically assigned jobs. This includes responsibility for assurance of compliance with all Company policies, proper, effective and efficient use of manpower, roofing materials and equipment and assignment of crewmembers. * Plans, schedules and coordinates work operations, determines materials and equipment that are needed, assures that work is performed, equipment and vehicles are operated in strict accordance with Company and OSHA safety standards. * Assures that work is performed and completed in accordance with Division 7 Roofing, the builder, the manufacturer and/or architect's standards and specifications. Assures that the customer's building and facilities are properly cared for and that all waste and debris are removed and that the work site is left in proper condition. * Assures that materials are available, handled, stored and used in a prudent and appropriate manner. Assures that material is not damaged during handling, that it is stored on the job site to withstand strong winds and rain and that partially completed jobs are secured properly to avoid damage or loss to equipment, materials or partially completed work. * Assures that Company vehicles are properly maintained, kept clean and orderly and free from debris. Assures that equipment and tools are handled and used properly and that necessary reports are prepared and filed for damaged vehicles, equipment or tools. * Assures that proper steps are taken to preclude loss of tools, equipment or materials by theft, vandalism or through carelessness or neglect. * The Foreman maintains necessary records and reports for each job. * Provides direct supervision of all crew members. Provides recommendations for disciplinary action, performance awards, reporting of an employee's overall work performance and other related matters involving personnel administration.     We Make Doors - Where they lead is up to you… Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Gathers the necessary materials, uses the appropriate hand tools, and operates applicable machinery and equipment in the various plants to support the assembly floor and the finished product while achieving production goals, quotas and objectives; * Assists in the assembly operations as directed by management to achieve the goals and objectives of JELD-WEN * Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to appropriate plant personnel including, but not limited to, Group Leaders, or Group Managers or quality control personnel * Labels finished products to match appropriate paperwork * Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations per plant policies and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines * This includes, but is not limited to, the use of safety glasses, ear plugs, masks, pants, close toed shoes, and associated safety equipment in order to be on the plant floor and assemble the product, and perform the job duties in a safe and efficient/effective manner; Reports unsafe conditions to appropriate supervision * Performs other duties as assigned by management. * Perform repetitive type assembly functions using hand or power tools, and applicable machinery and equipment to assist in the assembly of the JELD-WEN product line * Retrieve raw materials, semi-finished, and finished products for proper assembly; Must check the quality of material pulled from raw stock and manufactured materials, and assure correct type, amount, and appropriate dimensions for assembly * Places materials and parts in specified relationship to each other Minimum Qualifications: * High School Diploma or GED * Ability to read a tape measure accurately * Ability to multiply, divide, add and subtract * Must have the ability to read and comprehend basic verbal and written instructions * Ability to work in an environment where exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and machines, vibrations and loud noises. * Ability to adhere to all safety protocols including OSHA guidelines as mentioned above are mandatory. * Ability to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
