SUMMARY The Production Superintendent supervises and directs plant operations in the most efficient manner to produce quality products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervises and directs all production department personnel in the effective and economic utilization of the plant's manufacturing facilities to produce products to the company and customer's specifications according to production schedules.

• Recommends alternations and replacement of equipment as they become either obsolete, or in need of alternation or re-design, and makes improvement as necessary to effectively meet production schedules and quality standards.

• Interviews, selects and hires qualified personnel for production.

• Develops and controls those items of expense budgets associated with the operation of the production department and initiates cost reduction as appropriate

• Maintains a high level of standards for safety, housekeeping and environmental goals commensurate with J M Eagle policies and practices as they relate to both corporate and community needs.

• Serves as technical advisor to the Plant Manager and maintains cooperation with other departments and personnel with the plant.

• Develops and maintains satisfactory employee relations including the exercising of necessary discipline procedure in accordance with and cooperation with industrial relations practices and policies.

• Is responsible for the effective training of assigned employees.

• Helps to develop and maintain reporting of production priorities needed to effectively measure department's activities and in corporation with the plant's service departments.

• Maintains good community relationships as they relate to assigned employees and the plant's effectiveness in reaching its objectives.

• Maintains records and inventories to effectively meet downtime goals but within the plants budgets and good investment practices. Production Superintendent.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field or equivalent education, training and experience.

• Diverse knowledge of complex plastic processes and their equipment, include repairs installation and maintenance.

**Summary**

Responsible for plant effectiveness and efficiency for a section of a processing and/or cook plant. Provides direction, training, coaching, directing to Team Leaders and indirectly to hourly production associates. Works to achieve company established goads on production activities. Provides a safe and secure working environment for all associates utilizing company-approved processes. Promotes a positive working relationship with the production and support staff to make the company the Employer of Choice.

**Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities**

Establishes, measures and is accountable for operating, as well as capital budgets for the assigned area in a manner to enable the operation to maintain a competitive position in the industry.Meets all facility operational plans, to ensure yield, birds per man-hour, pounds per man-hour, line efficiency, CSI, QI requirements are met.Ensures processes are in place to continuously reduce turnover, improve safety results as measured by the Safety Scorecard, and create the environment that will make the facility the Employee of Choice in the area.Ensures processes are in place to continually provide training to improve supervisory skills of staff, and improve the skill set of the hourly production associates to maximize the results of individual and team efforts.Constantly develops new ideas and methods to improve operational performance and improve product quality and customer reliability.Supports and promotes the Company's annual People, Products, Profitability and Planet goals through effective planning, communication, emphasizing the requirement for all team members to be efficient and effective in their respective responsibilities.

**Minimum Education**

Bachelors degree in Poultry Science, Animal Science, Agriculture, Engineering or related discipline or equivalent work experience

**Experience Requirements**

3-5 years work experience. Should be computer literate with skills in Microsoft Office. Requires experience with various industry accepted procedures, including HACCP, SPC, etc. and plant efficiency as it relates to yield, lbs./birds, pmh, line speeds and automatic process equipment. Proven track record demonstrating ability to lead people and get results. Must be able to organize multiple protocols/projects and complete on schedule. Requires prior supervisory experience. Knowledge of and ability to provide strong customer orientation. Must be able to communicate to all levels of the organization; possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to travel to other facilities and plants for meetings and/or company business.

**Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements**

1. May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another. 2. May need to access files, supplies and equipment. 3. When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces. May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity. May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db. May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility. Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.

Job Overview:

We are currently seeking a Production Superintendent for our Air Separation facilities at our Calvert, AL location. This position will report to the Facilities Manager.

The Production Superintendent will be responsible for ensuring production requirements are met, and the facilities are operated in a safe, efficient, and compliant manner. The role manages a team of plant technicians at the facility. This is a front-line operations role that will respond to unplanned events, work independently, and make technical decisions and recommendations to ensure the reliable and efficient operation of the facility. This position requires a combination of office and field work. Accessibility during off-hours (laptop and cell phone) is required.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Manage plant technicians including site instrument technician
* Compliance with all applicable regulatory, policy, and internal engineering standards
* Maximize efficiency and operating capacity of the plant
* Troubleshoot plant process & equipment problems and implement solutions
* Special projects lead
* Maintain QA program, facilitate customer and corporate audits
* Assist with coordination of maintenance and project work with reliability centers and capital project teams to ensure efficient and cost-effective execution
* Maintain documentation of equipment and process
* Responsible for process safety information related to plant activities (MOC ,HWP)
* Interfaces and communicates directly with pipeline customers

Qualifications:

* Bachelor Degree recommended (not required)
* Required minimum 3-10 years of experience in operations
* Working knowledge of industrial gas plant processes
* Experience with installation and troubleshooting of industrial equipment
* Working knowledge of Hazardous work permits and Management of Change
* Excellent communication, team interaction and presentation skills
* Self-starter who is comfortable working independently, effectively manages multiple tasks and achieves results with minimal supervision
* Must have a positive attitude, be willing to quickly adapt to changing situations, have strong communications skills, and a strong will to build and maintain productive relationships across departmental lines
* Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
