ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: MACHINE OPERATION: Perform proper machine start-up and shut down procedures. Operate presorting machines to sort and barcode mail received from customers while maintaining accuracy and productivity standards. Understands machine software and how and when to change sort plans, set address blocks, etc. Maximizes read rates on the mail by making appropriate adjustments. Assures the machine is running properly. Remove mail from sort pockets of the mail sorting equipment and place in the matching mail tray that is designated to receive mail from that pocket Monitor quality of output by double checking the date, weight, thickness, barcodes, presort slug, indicia, postage rate, class of mail, etc. Communicates errors and recognizes bad barcodes found in the mail to prevent re-work of mail.
