Perform regular checks on all equipment to ensure operation and safety, adhere to preventative maintenance schedules Lead, train, and mentor team to develop skills, techniques, and productivity. Schedule workflows, address issues, monitor results, ensure safety, and provide reporting to operations leaders. Qualifications and Experience: Minimum 8 years of welding and cutting experience, to include TIG/MIG and cutting equipment such as plasma cutters and saws. 2+ years of management, lead, or supervisory experience in a manufacturing, production, or welding environment. Highschool diploma required, trade school or certifications preferred. Experience working with enterprise systems, data input, and reporting preferred. Understanding of fabrication process and blueprints/schematics. Forklift and Safety certifications a plus. Physical Demands: Role will require walking and standing for extended periods, sitting at a computer desk, lifting at least 20lbs, hand-eye coordination, climbing or kneeling. MISSION / SUMMARY: The Paper Machine Supervisor provides supervision and direction to 11 - 15 employees as well as planning and controlling production performance as measured by key performance indicators. JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following: * Provides daily communication to the shift, directs the day-to-day activities of the shift and responsible for the resolution of shift issues. * Ensures all schedules and releases are met. * Responsible for performance management of individuals for unacceptable performance relating to safety, attendance, training, quality, productivity, and/or inappropriate behavior to include disciplinary action if required. * Prepares and distributes shift report daily. * Performs daily audits to ensure that safety, housekeeping, basic care rounds, and established job standards are followed. Uses audit findings and reviews countermeasure sheets to upgrade standard work or install new systems to prevent problems from reoccurring. * Serves as a liaison to communicate identified problems to support team as well as problem status feedback to the crews. * Supports mill and department goals in safety, environmental compliance, quality, cost, productivity, and continuous improvement. * Accountable for overall shift performance in accordance to established key performance indicators (KPI's) to include safety, environment, overtime, housekeeping, quality, cull, and production efficiency. Takes necessary actions to ensure goals are achieved in a team environment by leading or promoting problem solving and development of countermeasures with or by crew members. * Completes all shift accident investigations within 24-hour period. Ensures corrective action is taken to address issue. * Manages individual job assignments and crew member training plans with assistance from other departmental personnel. * Mentor and coach and help develop technical mastery of operations personnel on paper machine fundamentals, skill development, and all aspects of paper machine department. * Foster employee engagement initiatives. * Encourage a behavior-based crew lead safety process. * Liaison with other department managers to optimize mill production. * Partner with technical training department to ensure the training program for operators is current and appropriate training goals are on target. * Promote ISO standards throughout department. * Administer and implement Labor relations (CBA) through consultation with the Human Resource. * Provide leadership with the implementation of problem-solving strategies and execution of key performance objectives in the department. * Sponsor employee ownership with operators to assure continuity in reaching common production goals. * Other duties as assigned. BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE: * Five to seven years of previous Paper Machine Supervisory Experience preferred. * Good people skills and ability to influence people * Good Organizational skills * Excellent written and oral communication skills * Able to motivate people to perform at a higher level * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office * SAP experience is a plus. EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE: * Bachelor's degree a plus or 1+ years of supervision * Five to seven years of previous supervisory skills; manufacturing environment preferred. * Continuous Improvement - Lean Six-Sigma, Lean/Six Sigma knowledge preferred. MISSION / SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of the Manufacturing Supervisor is to work directly with and supervise a production workforce of approximately 50+/- employees per shift. This person will have responsibility for the day-to-day management for all aspects of the production process in accordance with operating targets, compliance with established customer quality and production standards. JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions included but are not limited to the following. * Manufacturing Supervisor schedule consist of 12-hour rotating days and nights - generally includes every other weekend off. * Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding. * Supervises and leads the day-to-day shift activities to includes: scheduling, material handling issues and maintenance, as well as resolving production issues and inspires team to achieve safety, quality productivity goals. * Drives consistent accountability of company policies and processes. * Encourages and lead team members to work in a safe manner. Supports safety standards and seeks to make improvement in work practices. * Maintains quality standards and uses Statistical Process Controls (SPC) techniques for problem resolution. * Develops technical knowledge of equipment capability. * Must consistently demonstrate GPI's Core Values - Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork. * Actively participates in LEAN, 5S, Six Sigma and other continuous improvement programs and processes. * Must clearly understand customer requirements and deliver results to meet or exceed customer expectations. * Responsible and accountable to stop any process which is not meeting employee safety or customer quality requirements. * Back up to Department Manager as needed. * Partners with the department manager and the training supervisor to develop training assignments for all department employees and ensures timely completion. * Accurate and timely submission of daily pay period time records. Resolve all ADP time exceptions prior to end of pay period. * Oversees vacation schedule to ensure proper coverage is secured * Initiates new hire evaluations at 60 and 90 days providing accurate feedback related to performance. * Participates on interview panels as needed. * Other duties as assigned. SCHEDULE DEMANDS: * General Production Supervisor schedules consist of 12-hour rotating days - generally includes every other weekend off, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or off weekends and be punctual while doing so. * Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.
