Essential Job Functions: * Inspect raw or cast jewelry pieces for defects, excess material, or inconsistencies. * Perform pre-polishing tasks such as filing, sanding, grinding, and buffing using hand tools or machinery. * Sand tops of ring on sandpaper with back and forth motions. * Polish tabs with small felt wheel and with diamond compound. * Polish top of ring with white compound and medium felt wheel mounted on bench motor using side wheel. * Wash ring in degreaser. * Maintain consistency in surface preparation to ensure optimal results in the final polish. * Handle precious metals and stones with care, following safety and handling protocols. * Collaborate with quality control to identify and correct imperfections. * Keep accurate records of work completed and report any production issues. * Clean and maintain workstations, tools, and equipment. * Follow production schedules and meet daily output targets. Specialized Knowledge/Skills: * Employee should be able to read a limited number of two or three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. * Ability to speak and write simple sentences. * Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. * Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions.
