Production Operator-3 Injection Operator performs a variety of tasks requiring knowledge of injection processes and responsible for day-to-day operations associated an array of PET and HDPE injection equipment and its auxiliary equipment. *(Niagara purchases primarily Husky, but also other OEMs). Essential Functions * Responsible for overall preparation, set-up, starting and running injection equipment. * Ability to perform minor adjustments to injection equipment as directed. No mechanical work is to be performed without prior approval. * Responsible for accurately completing and updating information forms and logs such as Injection preform and/or cap daily log, destruction logs and quality forms. * Ability to recognize unsafe conditions and actions and follow plant safety rules including safe lifting practices and safe machine operations. Personal protective equipment is to be used where required. * Performs visual and mechanical quality checks to ensure production meets quality standards. * Housekeeping: maintain general housekeeping in all areas of production, including the break rooms and rest rooms. * Raw materials: Be able to define the difference between Vpet, Rpet & HDPE resins. Ability to identify parts safe for grinding and reintroduction to the resin system. * Maintain quality requirements in accordance with company standards; accurately filling out inspection sheets based on overall production quality. Scope of Responsibilities 1st Responsibility - Ensuring personal safety and the safety of your team members. Assists supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment. Wears appropriate PPE which may include fall protection, respiratory protection, hearing protection, foot, hand, head and eye protection. Responsible for cleanliness of the assigned work area. Proactively promotes the McWane Way principles. Follow all processes and procedures associated with the Waterman Safety Management Program. Inform management of any deviations from this program. Identify fabrication requirements for each piece of pipe Operate forklift to move pipe inside/outside the plant. Operate pipe cut off saw. Place pipe in machine, center the pipe, and tighten for work. After the pipe is in place, the operator will machine tapered threads into the pipe. During this process, the machine operator is responsible for verifying measurements, such as thread depth and accurate taper. After the threads are cut the operator tests the flange to make sure it screws onto the pipe accurately. Applies glue on pipe and flange and uses the machine to tighten the flange onto the pipe. For Threaders - Remove pipe from machine and move to next processing operation. For Lathes - run the cutting tool across the surface of the face of the flange to flush fit the flange onto the pipe Operator will work with pipe and flanges primarily from 3” to 24” in diameter, and lengths from 6 inches to 18 feet long. Operator will be proficient with quality and able to meet prescribed production output objectives for the work center. Paint and package finished product. Good with basic math, able to read a tape measure and micrometer Ability to understand machinery processes Consistent attendance, ability to get to work on time, every day Help and volunteer across a variety of different machines Positive, hard-working, and effective Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus and determine and distinguish color. Must have the ability to operate a forklift and obtain certification.
