Key Responsibilities A Vehicle Dismantler is responsible for efficiently dismantling cars, including extracting gasoline and all other fluids, removing batteries, mercury switches, non-conformities, catalytic converters, and other items. Decommission cars by utilizing a system of fluid and refrigerant extraction and a series of inspections to prepare the vehicle to be shredded while salvaging or removing certain key parts while operating safely and efficiently. A vehicle dismantler must be able to recognize these components of vehicles and safely drain, dismantle, remove, or extract these components in a timely, efficient, safe manner. Inspect equipment to ensure it is safe and in working condition. Drain all liquids in cars to appropriate receptacles. Pulls Mercury Switches & puts in appropriate receptacles. Assists in placing and setting vehicles in the yard. Uses power and hydraulic tools to remove auto parts. Assists in cleaning and maintains shop and equipment. Breaks down wheels and tires. Follows all safety and environmental processes. Performs basic maintenance on the machinery. Unload incoming cars and moving cars to and from the racks while keeping work a clean, neat work area. Other responsibilities as assigned. What We're Looking For: Familiarity with vehicle makes/models, engine components, drivetrains, and electrical systems. Previous experience in automotive parts, or dismantling/salvage operations preferred, or an interest in auto mechanics, strong mechanical aptitude. Must be able to effectively interact with customers and vendors. Excellent communication skills for both in-person and phone-based interactions. Positive attitude, teamwork skills, and attention to detail. Individuals must be willing to learn, be adaptable and be self-motivated. Must be able to lift a minimum of 30-50 lbs and 100+lbs on 2-person lift.
