Successful candidates will carry out work as a member of the newly formed Allen Discovery Center for Neurobiology in Changing Environments (ADC-NiCE). This pioneering, transdisciplinary center investigates the impacts of climate change on the neurobiology of marine organisms and how their nervous systems are affected by climate change-related stressors. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to apply their expertise to help unravel the complexities of marine neurobiology.
The Lyons Lab is recruiting a detail-oriented Aquatic Transgenic Production Technician to support high-volume developmental biology and marine genomics workflows. The role involves hands-on care of marine invertebrates, embryo production, and microinjection pipelines that generate transgenic lines for studies on evolution, development, and environmental effects on neural systems.
What You'll Do
Aquatic Systems and Invertebrate Husbandry
• Oversee daily operations of specialized Iwaki recirculating seawater systems
• Maintain tanks, filtration units, plumbing, and life-support hardware
• Feed and care for adult marine invertebrates
• Monitor water chemistry and adjust pH, salinity, and nitrogen cycle parameters
• Perform minor equipment repairs or construct simple system components
Embryo Production and Microinjection
• Collect embryos daily from breeding colonies
• Perform high-volume embryo microinjections with precision
• Rear embryos through metamorphosis and maintain stable genetic lines
• Track development from embryos to juveniles and adults
Molecular Reagent Preparation
• Grow and purify bacterial cultures for plasmid production
• Prepare plasmids, CRISPR components, and transposases
• Complete routine molecular biology tasks, including buffer prep and PCR sample prep
Lab Organization and Operations
• Maintain detailed logs of animal lines, system maintenance, and breeding records
• Manage ordering, shipping, and supply organization
• Support lab upkeep, safety compliance, and waste management
What You Bring

Requisition Processing: Pick and Pack Customer requisitions/orders as generated by warehouse management system. Verifying picks and packs are accurate as compared to requisition documentation (NSN, quantity, and Condition Code).
Transportation Preparation: Prepare and complete outbound process of requisitions/transshipments for transportation to include physical conformance of packaging, quantity, correct NSN, and proper staging Transportation / Shipping work areas. Ordering and filling SEAVANS

Position Scope:
Working within a high-production industrial environment, the Production Operator is responsible for meeting departmental production, quality, and safety standards. Position Scope:
Working within a high-production industrial environment, the Production Operator is responsible for meeting departmental production, quality, and safety standards. Upon training the Production Operator will be responsible for independently reading and verifying the shop order, setting up and completing the manufacturing process, which may include: printing equipment, automated equipment, small hand tools, viewing product through a microscope, and fine assembly work.
2nd shift: Monday through Friday 2:30pm - 11:00pm.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Read and accurately understand the shop traveler (job order, instructions, and customer specifications)
* Set up and operate different types of machinery according to the department processes and each job's requirements
* Consistently evaluate product for quality, verifying departmental procedures are completed accurately
* Record defects, document quality data, and work within the quality management system. Immediately escalate issues to the production technician, management, or engineering
* Read, record, and report required product data accurately on both the shop order and within computer applications

Scope:
Responsible for accurate solder mask placement, and correct screening of solder mask. * Cautiously load racks in plating tanks while ensuring proper temperature/current of baths
* Read blueprints and traveler documents to produce and move products according to customer specifications and to verify that all previous operations were completed
* Follow work flow dispatch as required while making allowances for schedule changes in response to Hot Jobs and customer requirements
* Immediately report any and all quality issues with panels and chemical baths to supervisor and/or Process Engineers
* Assist Process Engineers in running chemical process evaluations
* Perform preventative maintenance on all chemical machines
* Use all required Personal Protective Equipment
* Complete all internal departmental documentation accurately
* Follow all safety measures when handling chemicals and hazardous waste with regard to use, mixing and disposing chemicals

Scope:
